South Korean esports organization DAMWON Gaming has rebranded its League of Legends division. From now on, the team will compete under the Dplus KIA tag, replacing the former name DWG KIA.

Reportedly to celebrate and recognize their previous achievements, notably three LCK championship titles, the club retains the D in its name. The new name of the three-time LCK Champion and winner of the 2020 World Championship is a tribute to the organization's storied heritage. The "D" is a reference to the original name of Damwon Gaming, while the "plus" sign represents "limitless connectivity and huge potential for a brighter future."

Dplus KIA is one of the most successful teams in the history of League of Legends, and it's time for our brand to take its rightful place among the most popular organizations in the world. We are excited to open a new chapter in this organization's storied history with the help of this phenomenal team and the bold projects we have planned for this year that will bring a new wave of fans to the Dplus KIA family.

Jun Yang Li, Vice Chairman/CEO of Dplus KIA

The club expects Dplus KIA to be the start of a determined effort by the organization to strengthen its presence as a leading global brand in the gaming and esports industries.

Currently, the South Korean team is preparing for the start of LCK Spring 2023. The championship will be held from January 18 to March 19. In the first round of the Dplus competition, KIA will face DRX, the current champion of the 2022 World Championship.
