Digest: LEC Summer 2022 for 17.06
lieGreetings to all fans of eSports and League of Legends in particular! This will be the first material in a series of digests on the summer split from Europe -LEC Summer 2022. The Continental League is now taking over the world in its semi-annual cycle, with many teams competing within their home regions. And if you didn’t have time to watch the games yourself, this is a good opportunity to quickly and in detail learn about the details!
Briefly about the tournament itself. The LEC Summer 2022 summer split is the main event in Europe and the second and final split of each esports season (year) for League of Legends. 10 teams from all over the continent are fighting for a prize of €200,000 EUR and, most importantly, access to the Worlds 2022. By the way, unlike in Asia, three of the best, and not just one, European teams will have the opportunity to perform at this year's Worlds. The group stage will last 8 in-game weeks, until August 14, and all matches will be in Bo1 format. The game is played on patch 12.11, however, the champion that appeared with this update, Bel'Vet, is disabled.
About the events of the first day of the tournament
If on the Asian pro-scene, which captured the audience a week ago, we constantly see a stubborn and long struggle in meetings with the Bo3 format and a couple of matches a day, then Europe, as usual, brings a lot more dynamics.
During the first day, 5 matches were played. Accordingly, all the owners of slots on the LEC were able to immediately show themselves in practice.
MAD vs VIT
Let's start right away with the fact that in the first three matches there were two wins of the underdogs at once. MAD Lions open the tournament with a victory over the favorite represented by Team Vitality. Very long and "clean" game, which we often see in the professional scene. The Lions were able to outscale their rivals and die 3 times in total in a full 35 minutes, with a final score of 12:3 in kills.
SK vs BDS
Second game in favor of SK Gaming against Team BDS. Another incredibly equal and protracted game. Due to all the latest patches and meta changes, the average duration of all matches has increased, and this also affects eSports, as well. The map lasted 44 minutes and ended with a hard victory for SK with a score of 12:16. There are fewer kills, but the control of vision and objects throughout the map was much more than that of BDS.
XL vs MSF
Definitely the most interesting match ever. Excel destroyed Misfits Gaming with a crushing score of 15:0 in kills, 4:0 in dragons - all in 26 minutes. A phenomenal game where the jungler XL Markoon deservedly became the MVP.
G2 vs AST
Next, we were waiting for a meeting between G2 Esports and Astralis, which the former successfully took away. In general, there is nothing special to highlight. A clean, beautiful game from G2, in which throughout the entire 30 minutes of the game one could feel the self-confidence and the dominance of the Spanish-German team.
FNC vs RGE
The last match of the day was a little strange. The 30-minute map ended with Fnatic winning. At first, the game seemed very even and competitive, but Rogue often made rather strange and questionable decisions, such as continuing a 3v5 fight when a couple of allies died. And so throughout the game. Apparently, RGE is not very in shape.
