Results of the first week of LCK Spring 2022: Gen.G defeated ex-champions
lieJust yesterday, the last match of the first week of LCK Spring 2022 took place - the main event of the League of Legends in Korea this spring and the first of the new year. In the five days since the start of the LCK, we have witnessed 10 meetings between Korean rosters.
T1 almost lost to a new team in the LCK - Brion Esports, who show an incredible game. Gen.G, with a revamped and strong roster, is dethroning former DWG World Champions KIA from the throne of Korea's strongest team.
LCK Global on their official Twitter page also published the results of the teams' points for the first week. As you can see, so far only Gen.G and T1 are doing well.
To be honest, the first week of the Korean split has already turned out to be extremely tense and difficult, with a high level of play, which was expected from Korean teams.
The nominal favorites so far are: Gen.G, T1 and DWG KIA. The teams have not lost their form, and some have even become stronger. But be that as it may, none of them now look "invincible", as they once did with T1.
Gen.G in the closing match of the week managed to defeat DWG KIA, which until now were considered almost the strongest. It was they who became the champions of the Worlds 2020, and they were almost able to defend their champion status already in 2021. But this did not stop the guys from Gen.G Esports from crushing them with a well-coordinated game.
A separate mention, in my opinion, is the players of Brion Esports. In their very first meeting, they got caught against T1, where they managed to pick up the first map in the class and almost finished the second one. What a shock it would be if a recent academy team with 2:0 destroyed the team with the same Faker. Their forester UmTi was especially good, from whom there was an incredible amount of use and influence. It is surprising that he did not make it to the top of the best players of the week.
By the way, about the top, not a single player from Gen.G got into it. As LCK Global themselves write, this is a list of “POG points” (Player of Game) players, which is determined by 9 trusted people based on the result of votes.
This time it included: jungler Nongshim RedForce Dread, Life - support from KT Rolster, another jungler, but already from DWG KIA - Canyon, the first in terms of points in the list was ADK T1 - Gumayusi, who rightfully took his place here.
