The main event of the Dota 2 competitive season starts tomorrow. We are on the verge of The International, the largest tournament in esports.

This year, 20 teams will gather in Singapore to compete for the title of champion and a cash prize of over $13 million. The Dota 2 holiday begins with the group stage.

Due to the number of teams, 5 streams of matches will be played in parallel this year. No gradation in terms of value and importance - each bo2 is worth its weight in gold.

Let's start discussing The International 2022 with the match between Evil Geniuses and Soniqs. We figure out who will emerge victorious from the North American derby.

Evil Geniuses form

The bookmaker sees Evil Geniuses as the favorite of the North American derby. The coefficient for their success floats around 2.62.

For the bo2 series, the number 2.6 is not a guarantee of success. Rather, it reflects EG's very shaky season.

The teams played repeatedly during the regular season in North America. In all cases, Soniqs, then Quincy, lost to EG.

Match outcome

This fight will be one of the most insipid in the first line. The North American derby at The International 2022 is not exactly what you want to watch.

Having discarded preferences and my own IMHO, I will single out EG as the winner. Although historically they accelerate a little later in the tournament, the group stages play well. There is also a competitor allows you to feel as comfortable as possible.

With Soniqs, EG shouldn't have any problems: Fly has had enough time to "feel and test" the meta and given his experience as a captain, he will be ready for the match. However, I won’t be surprised if EG gets flooded with one map, after all, this is a group stage and we are essentially in front of cats in bags, but I don’t believe in a clear victory for Soniqs at all.
