The preview of StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 MinorL1mon4ikkk
Eight teams, which haven’t managed to pass qualifiers to DreamLeague Season 11, will gather in Kiev to determine the champion of StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor. The prize pool of the competition will amount $300,000, 500 Dota Pro Circuit points and a slot at the next Major and we will tell about the chances of teams to win.
Eight teams will take part in the competition, each of them has passed regional qualifiers. All participants have been put in two groups with a GSL format. Two worst teams from each group will be eliminated from the competition and the top two teams will make it to the playoffs.
The distribution of teams by groups:
The playoff stage will be carried out in a Single Elimination bracket with bo3 matches and we will see a bo5 confrontation in the grand final.
The prize pool:
The competition is part of the rating system by Valve and has received a “Minor” status, so the prize pool will amount $300,000, 500 Dota Pro Circuit points and a slot at DreamLeague Season 11 and you can find out the detailed distribution of money prizes below:
1st place: $125,000 + 120 DPC points + a slot at DreamLeague Season 11
2nd place: $70,000 + 100 DPC points
3rd place: $35,000 + 90 DPC points
4th place: $25,000 + 70 DPC points
5th-6th place: $15,000 + 40 DPC points
7th-8th place: $7,500 + 20 DPC points
The importance of the championship
The event is pretty important for any Dota 2 team because the tournament received a “Minor” status from Valve. Besides the monetary reward and the DPC points, a slot at the upcoming Major is given for a victory at the championship, so the participants will do their best.
The organization of the competition:
The company SLTV, which has been in its business for a while now, works on the organization of the tournament. This tournament operator has more than 20 hosted big and small Dota 2 tournaments among its achievements, including championships, which are part of the rating system. SLTV has recently hosted The Chongqing Major 2019.
The chances of the teams to win:
OG. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 2.5
The guys from OG are the favorites of the competition, according to bookmakers, however, we do not think so because the team has held the 5th-6th place at the previous Minor and failed qualifiers to DreamLeague Season 11. The team’s only achievement with iLTW on the roster is the third place at ESL One Katowice 2019.
Vici Gaming. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 3.7
The guys from Vici Gaming are considered to be the second in terms of power but they haven’t shown good results for a long enough time. In 2019, they have managed to enter the top eight at The Chongqing Major and to place 5th-6th at MDL Macau 2019. By the way, Fade is unlikely to have a motivation who is replaced from a tournament to a tournament by other players.
Gambit Esports. The odds on a victory from Parimatch: 4.2
The guys from Gambit Esports would have probably had to be the main favorite of the upcoming competition but the roster had come to the tournament with a stand-in: Fn will play instead of Afoninje. It can’t be said that he is weaker than the main player but the team synergy might be affected. It’s worth to notice that Gambit has already won WePlay! Dota 2 Winter Madness and WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness and also placed second at The Bucharest Minor and ESL One Katowice 2019 this year.
Royal Never Give Up. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 6.8
The team RNGU made one replacement about a month ago and their play changed a bit because the famous LaNm joined the team, having placed a captain role. The team has only played at MDL Macau 2019 with the renewed roster and they haven’t been lucky to place 5th-6th there. At the moment, the guys look like the team, which might guarantee a couple of unexpected results, however, it’s not worth to expected a victory at the tournament from them.
BOOM.ID. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 16.8
The roster of BOOM ID improved significantly in the terms of play in the last few months. In 2019, the team has managed to visit The Bucharest Minor and Asia Pacific Predator League 2019. The team had some problems with the European teams at the Minor tournament but they managed to make it to the grand final at the tournament in Southeast Asia. As a result, the roster might show significant opposition to such opponents as Flying Penguins, Old But Gold, and Demolition Boys but we do not expect to see them at the playoffs.
Flying Penguins. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 21
The roster of Flying Penguins performs pretty badly even in North America, having problems with such not very strong teams as Team Team and J.Storm. EternalEnVy and the company are probably only stronger than Demolition Boys now and are unlikely to advance to the playoffs.
Old But Gold. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 23
The roster of Old But Gold has become a real breakthrough in the CIS region. No one expected good results from this team, despite it is gathered from incredibly experienced esportsmen. It’s also worth to notice that after the second place at qualifiers to the Minor, the team took part in WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness but failed. The roster is “a dark horse” of the competition and might make it through the group stage, even despite the status of an underdog.
Demolition Boys. The odds on a victory from Parimatch.com: 40
The team Demolition Boys has made it to StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor through the qualifiers in South America and the region is considered to be the weakest in Dota 2. Despite the guys have passed the qualifiers without a loss, they are unlikely to win a match, not to mention advancing to the playoffs or a victory at the championship.
