Former Dota 2 Pro SVG Critiques Shopify Rebellion's TI2024 Qualifying Failure
Bogdan LashchenkoFormer Dota 2 professional Avery "SVG" Silverman recently shared his thoughts on Shopify Rebellion's failure to secure a spot at The International 2024. In a discussion with Capitalist on their podcast, SVG pinpointed the need for changes within the team, specifically highlighting the stubbornness of key players Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and Kanishka "Bulba" Sosale.
"I know Bulba. I've hung out with him at so many tournaments, and I've worked with him. He's a great guy, but he's super stubborn. That's one of his weaknesses. Those two have been together for so long that sometimes you get stuck in a bubble, thinking in one direction, and you're not willing to let others shake things up," SVG remarked.
He emphasized the importance of breaking out of this insular mindset, saying, "I feel that situation; I've been there too. It's rough to get out of. I think they need a wake-up call, that's it. That's what I'm trying to give for their own benefit. If they don't like me for it, then whatever, I'm beyond that. I'm just saying what it is. They're struggling, and it's sad to see because I think their team is fun to watch. Arteezy is an amazing player to watch when he's hitting his prime and playing signature heroes."
Shopify Rebellion's Missed Opportunity
Shopify Rebellion's journey to The International 2024 ended in disappointment as they lost to nouns in the grand final of the regional qualifier. This marks a significant moment in Arteezy's career, as it is the first time he will miss the main Dota 2 event of the year.
SVG's comments underscore a broader concern about the team's dynamics and the need for introspection and change. Whether or not Arteezy and Bulba will take his advice remains to be seen, but their fans will undoubtedly hope for a stronger performance in future tournaments.
