Team SMG commented on the disqualification for The International 2022 qualifiers
Maksym ShylovAn esports organization from Southeast Asia, Team SMG has officially commented on the situation with their absence from the regional qualifiers for the Dota 2 World Championship, The International 2022. Initially, the team was announced for The International 2022: Southeast Asia Qualifier.
The management of the organization commented on the situation as follows:
Unfortunately, we have to inform you that our Dota 2 roster has been disqualified from The International 2022: Southeast Asia Qualifier. We want to apologize to our players who trusted the organization, as well as to iceiceice and poloson who hoped to play in front of their home crowd in Singapore.
The reason is a communication problem within the organization, as well as a late approval of the DPC composition. Team SMG approached Valve with an appeal, but their request was not granted.
Management took full responsibility for what happened and promised to correct all organizational errors. Team SMG also fired Kenchi Yap from the position of the organization's CEO. The team will soon introduce an interim CEO. Team SMG will share plans for the 2023 DPC season at a later date.

Recall that The International 2022: Southeast Asia Qualifier will be held from September 13 to 17 of this year. 13 teams will compete for a single slot at The International 2022. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will go to the Last Chance Qualifier.
