Match Prediction: G2 Esports - MOUZ | CS2 (CS:GO)
ESL Pro League Season 18Welcome back to EGamersWorld.
We are still watching the action at ESL Pro League Season 18. This time we're talking about the quarter-finals, specifically the G2 Esports vs MOUZ match.
The European derby should be one of the central confrontations of the round. G2 Esports remain among the main favourites to win the whole tournament, while MOUZ show a very brisk CS throughout the event and have already left the title FaZe behind them.
Let's find out which team will be stronger in this match and in the next round will play against the winner of the Movistar Riders/ENCE pairing for a trip to the grand final of the tournament, and who will have to say goodbye to the prospects of lifting the EPL S18 Champions Cup over their heads.
Let's go.
G2 Esports uniforms
We begin our match analysis with an analysis of G2 Esports' match form. In this match, the Samurai are playing the number one.
This is what the esports betting sites are indicating. The odds for the victory of G2 are at around 1.6.
As we can see, the odds are not to say that it is a blowout. G2 Esports is the favourite, but a rather low-key one.
Almost all year long, G2 Esports have not left the podiums of major championships. Their rise as a TOP team started with BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 and IEM Katowice 2023. Both championships G2 passed confidently and at two tournaments they deservedly became champions.
Next, the "samurai" were stormy. Last season ESL Pro League Season 17 G2 Esports finished on the 9-12 line, which is clearly not the level of the team that recently won Katowice 2023.
After a frankly weak performance at EPL Season 17 G2 Esports played at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. NiKo and company had a real fiasco in Paris, as the tournament for them ended at the TOP-14 stage, which certainly did not fit into G2's plans.
- G2 Esports line-up: huNter, NiKo, m0NESY, jks, HooXi.
Prior to ESL Pro League Season 18, G2 Esports made their mark on several other major tournaments. These were BLAST Premier: Spring Finals and Fall Groups, where G2 took top 4 and top 8 respectively.
Next up was IEM Cologne 2023 and finally a win. In the Grand Final they beat ENCE 3-1, thus taking another IEM title for the year.
The last championship was Gamers8. The biggest commercial tournament of the season ended with G2 Esports in the top 4.
G2 Esports started off ESL Pro League Season 18 with a betting tirerable win. They beat Lynn Vision 2-0 in their opening match, but to be fair, they were close to a fiasco on the first map.
In the match to advance to the Group A finals, G2 Esports played against Virtus.pro. Not without problems, but "Samurai" defeated Vp with a score of 2-1.
In the match to advance to the quarter-finals of the ESL Pro League Season 18 play-offs, Virtus.pro faced Complexity. The Americans put up a fight, but they had enough for one map.
G2 Esports Mappool
The main map of G2 is Ancient. G2 played 8 matches there, of which they won 6.
Then comes Anubis (3 games, 2 wins), Vertigo (5 matches, 3 wins), Inferno (12 matches, 58% wins).
G2 Esports has no minus winnings on mapx. Among the "worst" choices are Nuke (7 matches, 4 wins), Mirage (4 wins, 4 losses).
MOUZ Form.
We continue the match analysis with the analysis of MOUZ form. In this match the team will play in the Underpassdog status.
At least, that's what the bookmakers say. The odds for their victory in this match are at around 2.2.
Such a figure leaves room for manoeuvre. And MOUZ can take advantage of it, because so far they look almost the best in ESL Pro League Season 18.
MOUZ's main achievement this season is reaching the finals of Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023. There they battled ENCE, but were defeated 0-2.
Prior to Long Cologne IEM Cologne MOUZ made a splash at the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023. They failed to jump above the top 4 - they were beaten by Apeks on their way to the Grand Final.
Back in the season, they made it to the top 8 at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR A, and then to the event itself. It didn't end well, as the team finished in the top-24 at Major e.
- MOUZ line-up: frozen, siuhy, torzsi, Jimpphat, xertioN.
IEM Cologne 2023 will be a test for the new line-up of the "mice". After Elisa Spring, siuhy, who previously played for GamerLegion, and Jimpphat, a youth player from MOUZ Nxt, joined the squad.
In the debut match the revamped MOUZ roster played against The MongolZ. An easy outing on paper ended in a nervous Bo1 on the dopes, followed by a 22-19 win for MOUZ on Nuke.
Already in the match to qualify for the group stage MOUZ were much more confident. They beat NiP 2-0 (16-12 Nuke and 16-7 Inferno) without any problems.
The first match of the group stage was not a big challenge for MOUZ either. NaVi lost at Ancient with a score of 16-9 and Overpass with a score of 16-12.
After beating NaVi, MOUZ failed to gain a foothold and lost the next two series. As a result, the "mice" at IEM Cologne 2023 took the top 12.
Before ESL Pro League Season 18, the team played at the local championship Thunderpick World Championship 2023: European Series #1. They managed to win, defeating BIG 2-0 in the grand finals.
In their debut match at ESL Pro League Season 18, MOUZ faced mibr. Being the favourites, MOUZ failed to defeat the Brazilians and unexpectedly ended up in the bottom of Group B.
The group stage was a mixed bag for MOUZ, but still more successful than not. An unexpected defeat in the top set cheered MOUZ up and they effortlessly went over the heads of their opponents, Heroic among them, at the bottom of the group stage table. Having not lost a single game in the lower grid, MOUZ made it here.
In the first round of the ESL Pro League Season 18 play-offs, MOUZ seemed to be off the chain. The Brazilians from FURIA were literally stomped, and the "mice" celebrated an easy 2-0 victory, giving their opponents a total of 9 rounds per game.
In the match before that, MOUZ met another grandee of the European scene - FaZe Clan. "Mice" ran through the match on a spree and closed the series with a score of 2-0.
MOUZ Mapple
MOUZ's favourite card remains Inferno. The Mice have played it three times in the last 3 months and won all their games there. Nuke is also doing well, with MOUZ winning 3 out of 4 Nuke games played.
Among the good options are Vertigo and Ancient, where MOUZ have 2 wins in 3 games each.
The most undesirable map is Mirage. MOUZ have played it 6 times, but won only once.
History of head-to-head meetings
The last time the teams played each other was back in 2022. Not the most relevant data, so we will not rely on it.
Predicted result of G2 Esports vs MOUZ at ESL Pro League Season 18
In this match I expect a beautiful CSGO with good play from both sides. I'm sure MOUZ will be able to squeeze at least one card. That's what I'll bet on.
Bottom line: +1.5 on MOUZ.
To watch and get a grip on the outsider. In general, I like to watch matches with G2, there is something interesting and unusual in this squad.
G2 went through the group without defeat, which earned them a place in the 1/4 finals. But how epic it was in general. Against the Chinese from LinVision, the first map, they had a bite to dopov, further into the salad. With bears from GP played three maps, but each was one-calibre, and the style of GP did not work here at all and was more funny. Well and with Complexity, we lost the first map in salad, on Inferno we were losing with the score 15-10, but we won the map and the game afterwards. Why I say it's fun to watch. But there's one thing, will it roll like that with Mauz.
The composition of Mauz so far is revealed only from positive sides, players from the academy, in general, above all praise. The motivation of the young is understandable, and there is a little bit of fear for the old guys. This is certainly not Faze clan, which after the game say that "well, no fucking motivation, there is X 2 more and the mood is not the same". G2 want to end on a good note, that's a fact, but with such jokes, here just mistakes can not forgive.
I'll take advantage while they are still outsiders and take the dark horse in the form of the Mice to win. Especially at 2.55, it's great and justified.
Bookmakers & Statistics
