Esports news NRG Esports
In brief:
NRG Esports is a famous American multigaming organization. NRG has rosters in CSGO, Rocket League and Overwatch. Let us take a look at the history of the CS:GO subdivision of the well-known organization.
First Appearance
Even though NRG Esports is a recognizable and popular organization, the club entered CS:GO quite recently. The first roster of the American organization in the discipline created by Valve was founded only in 2016. Then the club signed all players from ex-Method that included:
· gob b;
· SileNt3m;
· just9n;
· ptr;
· LEGIJA.
Those five players defended the tag for five months from January till May 2016. In that period, the team managed to take part in several qualifiers for Major tournaments. NRG won qualifiers for Counter Pit League Season 2 – America and DreamHack Masters Malmo 2016 – North America Open Qualifier. At the main event Counter Pit League Season 2 NRG took 3rd-4th place. The closed qualifiers for DreamHack Malmo 2016 remained the impassable barrier for the club.
In May 2016, the club was changed. The roster went through some changes. The club dismissed just9n and SileNt, and their slots were given to tabseN and FugLy. That roster represented the organization till December 2016. However, the season was not pretty successful so the organization announced a new roster for 2017.
Search of the Optimal Roster
In the new year NRG changed the roster dramatically. There were:
· ptr;
· FugLy;
· daps;
· cJ-dA-K1nG;
· Marved.
Despite the hopes, the changes did not make any difference. In 2017, NRG were unable to find their game style. They participated in various qualifiers for major tournaments, however, they could not achieve significant results anyway.
In 2017, the most resounding result was a victory at the closed qualifiers for DreamHack Denver 2017, and also first place at Americas Minor Championship 2018 – Boston.
During such unstable performances, the management of NRG always experimented with the roster. All 2017 the team tried out different players. Only in 2018 the club managed to find a more or less stable roster.
NRG Bloom
In 2018, NRG started to demonstrate worthy results. The team reached Top-4 at the qualifying tournaments, and also did well at Major championships.
NRG’s roster in 2018 was made up by FugLy, Brehze, daps, CeRq and nahtE. The same roster represented NRG in the whole season.
In 2018, the American team finished first at the qualifiers for Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Sydney, StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 5. They also succeeded at lots of big championships: they took second place at ESL Pro League Season 7 – North America, won Esports Championship Series Season 5 – North America, finished second at StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 5 and 3rd-4th at Esports Championship Series Season 5 – Finals.
In the same year, NRG won Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Shanghai, took 3rd-4th place at ESL One: New York 2018 and StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 6. Akso there were wins at cs_summit 3 and Esports Championship Series Season 6 – North America.
NRG finished the year with a victory at Americas Minor Championship – Katowice 2019: North America Closed Qualifier and making it to Americas Minor Championship – Katowice 2019.
In 2019, NRG won the Minor as well, getting a slot at Katowice Major 2019.
Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Katowice Major 2019 was the first major in the history of the tag. However, the dignity of the occasion was darkened with the result of the performance. At Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Katowice Major 2019, NRG took 15tg-16th place which led to pretty predictable changes in the roster: FugLy was replaced by tarik.
The renewed roster of NRG played till the summer 2019. In this period the team was able to take 3rd-4th place at StarSeries & I-League CS:GO Season 7, win the groups stage of ESL Pro League Season 9 – Americas, and take 3rd-4th place at Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Sydney and cs_summit 4.
In May 2019, the team got placed 9th-12th at DreamHack Masters Dalls 2019, after that rehabilitated with the 3rd-4th position at Esports Championship Series Season 7 – Finals.
In July, NRG exchanged daps for Stanislaw which was the last change in the CS:GO subdivision. NRG finished the season with 3rd-4th place at ESL Pro League Season 9 – Finals, 5th-6th place at ESL One Cologne 2019, 3rd place at BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019.
In July, the team managed to get qualified for Berlin Major 2019, and in September the players took 3rd-4th place at the Major itself.
The last won tournament was Esports Championship Series Season 8 – North America: Series 1. It became also the last tournament for the team. In September 2019, NRG sold the roster to EG, and decided not to get a new one.
