LAN Canceled - ESL to Hold IEM Global Challenge 2020 Online
Ihor MatusESL announced that they have decided to host the CS: GO championship in an online format. They hoped that the idea of gathering participants in a LAN format could be realized, but the idea with the arrival of the teams to the ESL studio in Cologne failed miserably. Germany has tightened quarantine rules.
In this regard, the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge 2020 is being moved online. To ensure that players do not have any technical problems, the organizers will try to find gaming houses so that esports players can get together and play without delays. In addition, ESL wants all security measures to be followed, and therefore will pay sufficient attention to resolving this issue.
IEM Global Challenge 2020 will take place from 15 to 20 December. Eight teams will take part in the event. Half of them will be selected through online tournaments, while the other half will be selected through the ESL Top Teams Rankings. The total prize pool of the championship will be $ 500,000. The winner will take home the main cash prize of $ 200,000.
