The Legendary Map Train Returns to CS2
After a long wait and numerous requests from the community and professional players, the Train map is finally returning to the competitive map pool in CS2. Three years, six months, and ten days since its removal, on November 14, 2024, fans once again have the opportunity to watch thrilling games on this iconic map.
Train was removed on May 4, 2021, and replaced by Ancient when the developers decided to refresh the competitive CS map pool by adding new locations to renew viewer interest and enhance the competitive experience. The last major tournament where Train played was ESL Pro League Season 13, which took place on May 3, 2021, a day before its removal.
What Makes Train’s Return So Significant?
Train is more than just a map; it’s a true CS scene legend. Since its debut, it has become one of the most beloved maps for countless players and the site of stunning highlights, strategic plays, and memorable matches. Many "moments of the century" were born on this map, with talented players showcasing their skills on the world stage.
For professional players and long-time fans, the return of Train is not merely a new addition but a chance to relive nostalgic moments and engage with familiar, yet refreshed, elements of the map in CS2. They will now be able to experience Train with the improved mechanics, physics, and graphics of the Source 2 engine, making the beloved map even more spectacular and visually captivating.
The return of Train signifies the importance of classic maps to the community and highlights that developers are willing to listen to player requests, preserving the spirit and traditions of Counter-Strike while introducing innovations.
