BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024: Cloud9 with a new roster were very close to defeating FaZe

Debut Match for the New Cloud9 Roster Could Have Ended in an Incredible Upset. FaZe Clan was very close to losing to the clear underdogs of the match, but at the very last moment, the team led by karrigan managed to pull together and turn the game around. Here is a brief recap of the close match between Cloud9 and FaZe Clan.

Results of the Cloud9 vs FaZe Clan Match in BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024

  • Cloud9 removed Nuke
  • FaZe removed Vertigo
  • Cloud9 picked Dust2 (FaZe Clan 13:10 Cloud9)
  • FaZe picked Inferno (Cloud9 13:7 FaZe Clan)
  • Cloud9 removed Ancient
  • FaZe removed Anubis
  • Mirage was left over (FaZe Clan 16:14 Cloud9)

Dust2

The match started with total domination by FaZe Clan. In the first gun round, rain made an Ace, and in the next round, broky got a quad kill. Round after round, karrigan's team took rounds on defense on Dust2 and looked much stronger than their opponents, who were debuting with a new roster that few believed in. Let us remind you that Cloud9's current roster includes BoombI4, Ax1le, interz, HeavyGod, and sniper ICY. FaZe Clan's total domination led to a crushing first half score of 10-2. But it was surprising when the team that couldn't find good trades on offense began taking round after round against one of the best teams in the world. Cloud9 closed the gap to 11:10 but couldn't push through, and successful attacks on the B site sealed the first map for FaZe Clan, who won their opponent's pick.

Inferno

Despite Cloud9's comeback attempts on the first map Dust2, belief in them was even lower on the second map since it was FaZe Clan's pick, meaning they should be 100% prepared. However, Cloud9 played an almost perfect half on defense, leading 8-4. In the second half, FaZe Clan lost the second pistol round but won the force buy and were close to evening the score. But Cloud9 managed to hold their game and prevent a comeback, leaving FaZe Clan with only 7 rounds won on their map.

Mirage

The decisive map was truly a climax of the entire event. Unlike the previous two maps, Mirage showcased a close game. FaZe Clan won the first half with a minimal lead, and then Cloud9 displayed confident Counter-Strike on defense. Even with two match points, FaZe Clan used their experience to reach overtime and ultimately put an end to Cloud9, preventing them from creating an upset in their debut match with the new roster. Despite the loss, Cloud9 showed promising moments, and it will be interesting to follow their future results to see what this new lineup can achieve.

FaZe Clan's next opponent will be the winner of the G2 and Ninjas in Pyjamas match, with FaZe likely to face G2. Cloud9 will play against the loser of that match. These matches will take place on August 1st at 13:00 and 15:30 EEST, respectively.
