00NATION Triumphs at Pinnacle Cup V: Victory Sealed with Impressive Performance and $30,000 Prize
Bogdan Lashchenko00NATION emerged victorious at Pinnacle Cup V, securing the $30,000 prize with an impressive performance that saw them defeat FURIA 2-0 in the final. The European team's journey began with a challenging 0-2 start in the Swiss stage, but they showed resilience and determination as they climbed the ranks to ultimately claim the championship.
Led by Thomas "birdfromsky" Due-Frederiksen, 00NATION found organizational support after their initial three matches, officially joining forces with the team on August 15. From there, they continued their ascent by overcoming Sampi and 9 Pandas, finishing the Swiss stage with a 3-2 record and securing a spot in the knockout rounds.
Entering the playoffs, 00NATION demonstrated their prowess by sweeping ECSTATIC, highlighted by an outstanding performance from birdfromsky with an impressive 1.30 overall rating. They followed this with another convincing 2-0 victory, this time against Bad News Eagles. Florian "syrsoN" Rische's consistently strong performances further bolstered the team, propelling them into a semi-final clash against Astralis.
The encounter with Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and his team proved to be a rollercoaster ride, as 00NATION secured Mirage (16-11) but faltered on Overpass (26-28), squandering a 15-2 lead. Astralis managed a remarkable comeback, forcing overtime and ultimately securing the map win after an intense series of extra time rounds.
Despite the setback, 00NATION rebounded admirably, clinching the series on Nuke (16-9) with an exceptional showing from Tim "susp" Ångström, earning them a spot in the final against FURIA.
FURIA, led by Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, received a direct invitation to the quarter-finals and had to overcome Espionage and Monte to reach the final. Unfortunately, Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato's hospitalization on the eve of the last match posed a challenge for the Brazilian squad. KSCERATO's performance on Nuke (13-16) was impacted, and he sat out the second map to seek medical attention.
Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira stepped in for KSCERATO on Ancient (12-16), but FURIA's fate was sealed. Exceptional contributions from the German duo, syrsoN and Jon "JDC" de Castro, propelled 00NATION to victory, securing the title and the coveted $30,000 prize.
