ESL has taken measures to reduce the number of tips from the floor at IEM Rio Major 2022

According to the HLTV portal, the ESL tournament operator has found an effective way to reduce the number of tips from the fans from the hall at IEM Rio Major 2022. To neutralize the influence of local fans on the Brazilian teams, the organizers decided to turn off the mini-map and "X-ray" during the broadcast in the hall.

The integrity of the tournament is the most important factor for us. In recent days, we have encountered incidents that, in our opinion, have put this in jeopardy. We communicated to viewers the level of importance of this event and did so throughout the tournament. Earlier this evening, we felt the need to remove the mini-map and on-site spectator x-ray for a few rounds to protect the integrity of the tournament. Despite this, we do not want to spoil the experience of our viewers.

These changes appeared during the match between Cloud9 and Imperial Esports. It should be noted that during the meeting, the fans helped the local team, shouting out clues about the location of the opponent. In addition, the fans proportionally reacted to the position of the aim of the players of the Brazilian team when it was aimed at the opponent through a wall or a column of smoke.

This is not the first time that Brazilian fans have helped local teams. Previously, fans suggested finding rivals from the stands. It is likely that ESL will continue to impose restrictions on the arena if fans continue to encroach on the fairness of the event.

IEM Rio Major 2022 takes place from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro convention center. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and South America, and Asia are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,250,000, ranking points in the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023 for the winner.
