Tournament operator ESL has announced an increase in the IEM Rio Major 2022 prize pool to $1,250,000. As a result, each participant of the championship will receive a share of the total allocated prize money.

IEM Rio Major 2022 prize pool increases to $1,250,000! This change means that all teams that qualify for the Major will now receive prize money.

A little earlier it became known that BLAST Paris Major 2023, which will be held next May, will also offer participants a total prize pool of $1,250,000. As it was reported then, this decision was made directly by Valve .

While the winner will receive the previous $500,000, there has been an increase in payouts to participants finishing 2nd through 16th. In addition, the teams eliminated from the Challengers stage will also receive $10,000 each.

Recall that in mid-September, ESL announced changes to the rules for organizing the upcoming IEM Rio Major 2022. After numerous requests from the community and pro-players, the organizers decided to hold all stages of the championship with spectators, as well as allocate an additional fan zone with Gaules as leader.

IEM Rio Major 2022 will take place from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro convention center. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and South America, and Asia will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000, ranking points in the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023 for the winner.
