The seeding of participants in European RMR tournaments for IEM Rio Major 2022 has changed

Tournament operator ESL has approved the final distribution of participants in RMR tournaments for Europe. In light of the recent collapse of the Copenhagen Flames roster, the organizers have redistributed the places of the teams in the respective championships according to the new classification based on the results of the previous major.

Following the announcement of the IEM Road to Rio Open Qualifier dates, we wanted to share more information about each Regional Qualifier and the guidelines to follow. All qualifying matches will be played in single-elimination bracket format, while all decisive matches will be played in BO3 format.

Changes made since the original announcement;

  • The second open European qualifier for IEM Road to Rio has been rescheduled for August 20-22. The changes are related to inconsistencies in the schedule with other championships.
  • The second open qualifier for IEM Road to Rio for Oceania has been rescheduled for August 22-23. The changes are related to inconsistencies in the schedule with other championships.

Rules regarding coaches:

  • Coaching on the server is prohibited.
  • Coaches and other employees are not allowed to be seen or heard during official online matches.
  • Coaches may not be present in the room with the players and participate in online negotiations in any form during official online matches.

The collapse of the Copenhagen Flames roster led to a redistribution of places in the groups of the following teams: BIG, Heroic, Outsiders, Cloud9, G2 Esports and Bad News Eagles. The first three will compete in the first RMR tournament, and the last three in the second.
