"It will be exciting for me to come to LAN. But it will be very cool.": sdy about NaVi's upcoming game at BLAST
Danil Chepilsdy moved to NaVi as a stand-in, he came to the team in order to replace the former captain of Boombl4. Depending on the results, he will either be able to stay in the team, or Natus Vincere will look for another, more suitable player. We have already written about this before.
When did you first try to play Counter-Strike? When did you decide to go into esports?
My father put me in front of a computer at the age of three. It was Counter-Strike 1.5, since then I've been playing. According to relatives, I won a LAN tournament in Dota 2 at 7 years old and in Couner-Strike at 9 years old, but I don’t remember this.
I purposefully went into e -sports when I was a 2nd year student at the university, then I had a choice whether to become a lawyer or an e-sportsman.
Tell us a little about your early career. What can you say about Team Spirit?
It was a long period of time. At first I played in a team with the TSspirit coach - Certus. The team was called Dream. After he returned to the position of coach in Team Spirit, he decided to take me with him, because he liked the way I played.
There were bad times, there were good times, when we gained high momentum, rose to a fairly good level, I think. In general, this is an unreal experience that Spirit gave me, I am very grateful to them for this, I would never say anything bad about them. This is a very good organization, there are all good players.
How did your career develop after you left this organization?
At first, when I left Team Spirit, I decided that this stage had already been passed. I played mixes, I was invited to a tournament in Saudi Arabia, then somewhere else. I was at the 2x2 tournament in Helsinki. He won. In Saudi Arabia, he also won this tournament. After that, the coach MAD Lions kuben, well known to everyone, wrote to me and offered to talk to me. After we talked heart to heart, he decided to invite me to play with the guys. And from that moment I'm with MAD Lions in principle. It was also very interesting for me to communicate in English. Every day was a joy that I spend time with the guys and learn something new. I have wanted this for a long time and went to it.
On February 24, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine, where did the war find you, and what did you do after?
My whole family lives in different districts of Kyiv. My girlfriend and I woke up at 4 something or closer to 5 from explosions. They didn't understand what was happening. I pick up the phone, there are already a lot of calls from all relatives, parents. We all called together. We quickly decided to move into the same apartment with my mother. Gathered everything you need. There were 13 of us, three cats, three dogs and a rabbit. We all got together and went to the city where I was born. It's my grandmother's house. The city of Kostopel in the Rivne region, stayed there for three months. These three months we have been volunteering and helping.
When you were first contacted by NaVi, what was your first reaction? What did you feel?
The first emotions were surprise, because I already had different situations with NaVi. It seems that I could get into Natus Vincere twice already. But I took it calmly, normally. This is a good opportunity to take advantage of. I treated it quite logically.
I'm in a French agency called Prodigy. And my agent himself wrote to NaVi and offered such an opportunity that I would go on loan. And thanks to him, thanks to MAD Lions, who loaned me to NaVi for free, I managed to do it. With regard to training and testing, this was not the case. I just talked to trainer Bla1d3 and Chaos. I did not communicate with the players, the only thing is that I contacted Perfetco and B1T.
Have you started training before BLAST? What are the main challenges you see in this?
It will be exciting for me to come to LAN. But it will be very cool. I'm already waiting and I want to get there as soon as possible. As for training, yes, training before BLAST has begun. The main focus points that I have now is the role in which I will be put. Most of them I have played for a long time or have not played, you need to get used to a lot in such a short period of time. I put a lot of effort into this, I use all the opportunities that I have. And therefore, I think that everything will work out and everything will be fine.
NaVi's first game on BLAST is today! Their opponent will be the team OG, for which the kicked player Spirit - degster will play. The match starts at 16:00.
