Cloud9 advance to IEM Dallas 2022 Grand Finals
Danil ChepilBIG stop their participation in the tournament, Cloud9 pull out a victory for themselves by completing the last map with a devastating score.
BIG vs. Cloud9
- Cloud9 removed Nuke
- BIG removed Inferno
- Cloud9 picked Overpass
- BIG-picked Dust2
- Cloud9 removed Mirage
- BIG removed Vertigo
- Ancient was left over
Despite the disappointing defeat of Cloud9 against FaZe Clan yesterday on Overpass, the C9 team still decides to choose it, although the Vertigo map was available for the pick, on which C9 has good statistics, and for BIG it is the worst in terms of win percentage. Starting on the attack side, the players of the North American organization win the first two rounds, in turn, BIG, having reached the gun room, took the lead in the score. After the fifth round, C9 decided to play a little more actively on the map, which paid off. Cloud9 take the first half with a score of 6:9 in their favor. H0bbit stated in a recent interview that they have a very strong defensive side on Overpass. The teams exchanged pistol rounds and Cloud9 made a full eco, which was almost taken away, only two red players survived from BIG. In the next round, Cloud9 had a full buy-round, but they were defeated. Even with the score 10:9 in favor of the Germans, Cloud9 had a huge foothold for victory. But round after round, they just don't succeed, BIG kept making open frags and crushing the opponent on all fronts. Only after the score 15:9 the players of the C9 team began to successfully carry out the rounds, but unfortunately a little was not enough to reach the overtime. The Germans from BIG take this map with a close score of 16:14.
The Dust2 BIG map is played very well, while Cloud9 hasn't played it in official matches for a long time, so it was not clear what level of counter-strike they would demonstrate. C9 chose the defense as their side, in which they showed good reading of the opponent, good shooting and the fact that they know how to play Dust2, the first half looked boring from BIG, to put it mildly. According to their game, it seemed that half of them would go to the camp of the Cloud9 team with a large margin, perhaps this would have happened if C9 had not made such serious mistakes. The B base on Dust2 is a very difficult point to attack, Cloud9 decided to surprise the opponent and strengthened him in the face of three players, such a round could not be lost, but C9 failed completely, BIG took the site without serious problems, and the remaining Cloud9 players were at length, therefore, there was no point in knocking out. The next round, and another failure at B base. This time, interz failed to realize its position, being unread, it takes only one player. H0bbit tried to knock out the B base, burst into the smoke with P250 and took two players, but this was not enough to win the round. The first half ended with a score of 9:6 in favor of BIG. The players of the North American organization lose the first three rounds, and now it becomes quite problematic for them to win. But who could have expected that they would show such a confident attack, and BIG would not be able to win a single round against full-fledged weapon rounds from Cloud9. Perhaps the outcome of the map was influenced by not the best from the German team. Syrson missed with a sniper rifle in situations in which an experienced sniper would not miss. Despite this, he finished the map with a good score of 18-16, unlike his teammates. Krimbo and tiziaN failed to get 7 kills on Dust2. Cloud9 win on the opponent's pick with a score of 9:16.
The Ancient map didn't show us a tight fight at all. Cloud9 closed BIG without a chance in the first half with a score of 12:3. The Germans even gave away those rounds that cannot be lost in any case. For example, the BIG team puts a bomb, brings it to a 1v1 situation, and interz just picks up and defuses the bomb. The attack player didn't even check, thinking it was fake. On the defense side, we didn't see any games from BIG, they didn't take a single round. The Cloud9 team advances to the grand final, finishing the meeting with a score of 3:16 in their favor.
All Cloud9 team players finished the bo3 series with a positive KD, and none of the BIG players managed to do it.
Cloud9 advance to the grand final, where their opponent will be ENCE.
BIG leave the Intel Extreme Masters 2022, taking 3rd-4th place and earning $20,000 + 525 EPT points + 750 BLAST Premier points.
