General information
DreamHack Leipzig 2020 will start on 24 January and will get over on 26 January. This is a typical DreamHack championship so many elements of the tournament are usual for us and many other viewers. For example, eight teams will be taking part in the competition, the prize pool will be $100,000, and the championship will be held as part of the DreamHack computer exhibition. The venue for DreamHack Leipzig 2020, by the way, will be Leipziger Masse. It's remarkable that the winner of the competition will get $50,000 along with the invitation to DreamHack Masters Jönköping 2020 with the prize pool of $250,000.
Participants
Eight teams will be participating at the upcoming week championship. Heroic and MAD Lions passed through the European qualifier while Cloud9 did it in North America. Sprout got a chance to perform at the tournament thanks to their victory at ESL Meisterschaft Winter 2019. BIG, North, Renegades and Virtus.pro became the owners of direct invitations.
Prize pool
The main prize pool of DreamHack Leipzig 2020 will consist of $100,000. The teams that will show the worst results at the championship and take 7-8 places will get $2,000 each, while the rosters taking 5-6 positions at the tournament bracket — $3,000. The teams that will make it to the playoff but on the 3-4 position will get considerable prizes of $10,000 for each. The vice-champion will get $20,000, while the winner will gain $50,000. As it has already been mentioned, apart from $50,000, the triumphant team will get an invitation to DH Masters Jönköping 2020 with a prize pool of a quarter of a million dollars.
Holding format
The format at DreamHack Leipzig 2020 will be classic. Eight teams will get divided into two groups with each contestants in each and will play by the GSL system there (double-elimination bracket). The first matches will be held in the Bo1 format, and the others — in the Bo5 format. Two best teams from each group will make it to the final stage where they will get in the single-elimination bracket. Two worst participants in each group will end up participating in the tournament and get consolation prizes. There will be only three matches at the playoff: two semifinals and the grand final. All of them will be taking place in the format up to two wins (Bo3).
