When Does Battlefield 6 Season 2 Start: Short Recap

Battlefield 6 Season 2 will launch on February 17, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This date comes after a nearly one-month delay, which pushed the start from its original January 20 schedule. The new season introduces a three-phase content plan spanning until April. Players will receive two new maps, new vehicles like the scout helicopter, and experience mechanics like psychoactive smoke.
When Does New Battlefield 6 Season Start?
The new season of Battlefield 6 begins on February 17, 2026. This date marks the start of the first phase, called Extreme Measures. The full Season 2 road map details a monthly content release structure, with the second phase, Nightfall, starting March 17, and the third, Hunter/Prey, launching on April 14. EA and Battlefield Studios will also release Game Update 1.2.1.0 alongside the season, which includes hundreds of gameplay improvements and weapon balance changes, such as widespread recoil tuning for automatic weapons.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Delay
The second season was initially scheduled for a January 20 release but was postponed to February 17. In a blog post, the developers stated the delay was implemented to provide "extra time to further develop and refine Season 2 as a result of community feedback." In place of the season launch, an extension for Season 1 was released on January 20, which included a Frostfire Bonus Path and double XP events. The new February 17 date for Season 2 is now final.
What's New in Season 2?
The season introduces two new maps: Contaminated, a large battlefield in the German mountains, and Hagental Base, a close-quarters infantry map set in subterranean tunnels. New vehicles include the return of the AH-6 Little Bird scout helicopter, a fast dirt bike, and the Light Tactical Vehicle. The new weapons are the VCR-2 assault rifle, M121 A2 LMG, GRT-CPS marksman rifle, CZ3A1 submachine gun, and the VZ. 61 machine pistol sidearm. New gadgets arriving are the 9K38 IGLA launcher for Engineers and the HTI-MK2 Hardware Suppression System for Recon. Limited-time modes will feature prominently, such as VL-7 Strike, which introduces hallucinatory gas, and Nightfall, which brings low-visibility combat with night vision goggles to the Hagental Base map. I do believe the Operation Augur mode, which combines both new maps into a single narrative experience, will be a highlight for many players.
