Contaminated, Nightfall and New Vehicles: Battlefield 6 Season 2 Overview

Arriving on February 17 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Season 2 of Battlefield 6 introduces a major free update packed with fresh content for both core multiplayer and REDSEC, the game’s battle royale mode. The seasonal rollout is structured into three distinct phases, each delivering new maps, modes, weapons, and vehicles over the coming months. Below, you can find the official Battlefield 6 Season 2 Roadmap detailing everything planned across all phases.
Extreme Measures: New Map, Weapons and the Return of Vehicles

The first phase of Season 2 runs from February 17 to March 17 and kicks off with a large-scale content update.
The highlight of the update is NEW MAP: CONTAMINATED — a brand-new battleground that supports all combat formats, including different match sizes, ground vehicles, and helicopters. The location is designed for both large-scale vehicle warfare and fast-paced infantry combat.
During this phase, several limited-time modes will also be introduced:
- VL-7 Strike Limited-Time Mode — a special multiplayer playlist where VL-7 gas appears on the map, causing hallucinatory effects (players may see fake enemies) if they are not protected by a gas mask.
- Gauntlet — Altered State Limited-Time Mode for REDSEC.
- Battle Royale — Synthesis Limited-Time Mode, where the VL-7 gas affects combat zones in battle royale, forcing players to search for gas masks and filters.
In addition, a new Battle Pass will launch, allowing all players to unlock:
- Three weapons — Designated Marksman Rifle (GRT-CPS), Assault Rifle (VCR-2), and LMG (M121 A2).
- A new launcher gadget for the Engineer class (9K38 IGLA).
- A new suppression system gadget (HTI-MK2) for the Recon class.
Players can also expect new challenges, Portal updates, and the return of a small but legendary and highly effective aircraft — the light helicopter AH-6 Little Bird, well known to series veterans.
Season 2 also introduces the Season 1 Catch-Up Challenge Set, unlockable at Career Level 20, giving players another chance to obtain additional gear.
By completing specific challenges, players can unlock:
- GGH-22 Sidearm — earned by dealing close-range damage and securing grenade kills/assists.
- Mini Scout Sniper Rifle — unlocked after completing the GGH-22 challenges; requires secondary weapon kills, headshots, and damage dealt with secondary weapons or gadgets.
- SOR-300C Carbine Rifle — available after completing the Mini Scout challenges; requires sniper rifle kills and headshots.
This set complements the previous Season 1 Hardware Challenges, which included the M357 Trait Sidearm, DB-12 Shotgun, and three additional weapon attachments.
Later in the season, the melee weapon NOMAD CX-12 Ice Axe will return for players who did not unlock it during the Winter Offensive Bonus Path.
Phase One sets the tone for the entire season, combining a new map, modes, weapons, and technical updates in one major content drop.
Nightfall: Night Battles and Arsenal Expansion

Phase Two of Battlefield 6 Season 2 begins on March 17 and focuses on dark atmospheres, tactical maneuvering, and mobility.
The centerpiece is a new map — HAGENTAL BASE — designed around nighttime combat, limited visibility, and close-quarters engagements. The darkness significantly changes match dynamics, forcing players to rely on coordination and gadgets.
Two limited-time modes will be available:
- Nightfall Limited-Time Mode
- Gauntlet: Nightfall Limited-Time Mode
Both modes emphasize nighttime combat, tactical positioning, and control of key objectives.
The update will also introduce Defense Testing Complex 3 — a new Fort Lyndon POI.
Beneath Fort Lyndon, a hidden underground testing complex will open — a network of tunnels allowing squads to move across the map stealthily. The location is ideal for covert rotations and surprise attacks.
The complex contains numerous loot crates left behind by former defenders. However, most entrances will be locked, and as the death circle closes, rappel lines will become the only way out, adding tension during the final stages of the match.
Motorcycles are also being added to the game:
- DIRT BIKE — HAYES M1030-1 (NATO)
- TM/O 450 (Pax Armata)
These lightweight vehicles enable quick rotations, flanking maneuvers, and aggressive pushes across open areas.
Phase Two further expands the arsenal with:
- NEW SUBMACHINE GUN: CZ3A1
- NEW SIDEARM: VZ.61
Both weapons support aggressive close-range gameplay, fitting perfectly with the night-focused combat and tighter battle zones.
Hunter/ Prey: Operation Augur and the Season Finale

The third phase of Season 2 — Hunter/ Prey — launches on April 14 and serves as the final chapter of the season’s content. It concludes the ongoing conflict between Pax Armata and NATO, allowing players to decide the fate of Hagental Base in the new limited-time mode Operation Augur. In this LTM, players will choose a side, and large-scale battles will determine the outcome of Season 2’s storyline.
Alongside the mode, a new vehicle will be added — the LTV (Light Tactical Vehicle). This maneuverable alternative to other light vehicles combines mobility with solid protection, making it effective for rapid rotations and flanking strategies.
A new melee weapon will also arrive — the KAPOK 14” Machete. It offers unique takedown animations tailored to an aggressive playstyle. The machete can be obtained through the Hunter/ Prey Bonus Path, which also includes cosmetic rewards. Battle Pass owners will gain access to additional bonuses.
The final seasonal update will also expand the Portal mode: Battle Royale Duos will become available to all players, while Battlefield 6 owners will be able to create their own Verified Escalation modes. Phase Three wraps up the season with a major mode, new vehicles, melee weapons, and expanded community tools.
