VALORANT Patch Notes 10.09: Tejo and Breach fixes, Swiftplay updates and more

The latest patch brings several important updates to VALORANT, including a much-anticipated adjustment to Tejo, a minor nerf to Breach’s stun ability, changes to ultimate points in Swiftplay mode, and a host of bug fixes.
Let’s dive into the details.
AGENT CHANGES
Tejo

Riot Games has responded to player feedback and agrees that Tejo turned out to be a bit too powerful in certain aspects. After carefully reviewing his overall impact on the game, the developers decided to tweak his abilities—especially his missile salvos, which allowed Tejo to gain significant advantages while taking fewer risks than other initiators.
The goal of these adjustments is to maintain the strength of his Guided Salvo as a powerful space-clearing tool but make its use more costly when misfired or poorly timed. This should open up more counterplay opportunities for opponents and make gameplay against Tejo feel more fair and strategic.
Guided Salvo:
- Now more flexible in mechanics, similar to Skye's style.
- Recharge removed – now uses a charge-based system.
- Cost: 150 credits.
- Gains 1 charge at the start of the round.
- Each rocket uses 1 charge.
- Casting range reduced from 55m to 45m.
Stealth Drone:
- Cost increased from 300 to 400 credits.
Special Delivery:
- Cost decreased from 300 to 200 credits.
Armageddon (Ultimate):
- Ultimate points required increased from 8 to 9 to better reflect its power level.
Breach

Breach’s Fault Line was offering too little room for counterplay, especially when players were caught by its edge. The stun effect is now slightly easier to dodge if you aren’t directly in the center of the ability.
Fault Line:
- Time until detonation increased from 1.0 to 1.2 seconds after activation.
GENERAL UPDATES
Gifting System
Due to the popularity of the gifting feature, Riot is increasing the daily gift limit from 5 to 10, effective May 15. This change coincides with the launch of the "Return// V25" bundle in the Featured Store. So if you’re sending items as gifts from this bundle, you’re also spreading some goodwill.
GAME MODE CHANGES
Swiftplay Mode
Since Swiftplay was introduced, ultimate costs have increased, making it harder for some agents to use their ultimates effectively. To address this, the devs have increased the starting ultimate points for select agents, giving them more opportunities to leverage their powerful abilities in the first half of the match.
Breach – Rolling Thunder:
- Starting ultimate points increased from 2 to 3.
Killjoy – Lockdown:
- Starting ultimate points increased from 2 to 3.
Viper – Viper’s Pit:
- Starting ultimate points increased from 2 to 3.
BUG FIXES
Cosmetics
- A visual issue with the "Discharge" skin line, where the skins glowed more brightly than intended after selecting and inspecting the Discharge flex skin, was previously thought to pose a risk for photosensitive players. After extensive testing, Riot concluded there is no actual threat. As a result, they’ve reverted the fix and are leaving the effect in-game as a hidden Easter egg.
- Fixed an issue where kill banners for several skin lines (including "Demon", "Ivory Dreams", "EX.O", "Harbinger of Chaos", and "Mysterious Bloom") appeared smaller than intended after the first kill.
KNOWN ISSUES
Cosmetics
- Riot is aware of a new issue where "Discharge" skins glow excessively bright, posing a potential risk to photosensitive players and impacting competitive matches. This bug is unrelated to the previously mentioned reverted fix.It will be resolved in Patch 10.11.
Agents
- A bug exists where, while aiming Omen’s Dark Cover, dead allies can see through Viper’s Pit and other vision-blocking effects. This issue is set to be fixed in Patch 10.10.
That's all for now — expect an update soon, and it's likely that Tejo will stop appearing in every match, as Riot has clearly nerfed this agent too heavily. As for Breach, these changes won't affect his pick rate in any significant way and are unlikely to impact his win rate either.
