The growing popularity of mobile games

Playing could hardly be more convenient these days. All you have to do is pull out your smartphone and you can start playing anywhere at any time. Such convenience is by no means a given. After all, it wasn't all that long ago that mobile internet connections were nowhere near as well developed as they are today. You had to rely on public hotspots, whose speed was not necessarily suitable for mobile games.
Today, all of this is an absolute standard and mobile games are taking the world by storm. It's hard to imagine the world without mobile games. But where does the trend of being able to simply use vulkan vegas 50 free spins on the go come from? The answer may lie in very simple conditioning, among other things.
Games - from the desktop to the hand
Computer games really only conquered the world in the 1990s with better graphics and affordability. The first computers were very expensive and quickly swallowed up more than a month's salary. They were absolutely not accessible to everyone, but the more popular they became, the more affordable they could be produced for the market. Today, you can easily buy a computer for just a few hundred euros, although it may not necessarily be a real gaming computer in this price range.
Gaming is increasingly mobile these days and you could almost say that mankind has been gradually conditioned to mobile gaming. The development of mobile games actually extends over three stages:
- Console games
- Gameboys
- mobile phones
Stage 1: Console games
Console games gradually discovered the world at the end of the 1980s. You played on a screen, but you had controllers in your hand to actively follow what was happening on the screen. Other computer games at the time were limited to a joystick or simply the cursor buttons.
With console games, we had reached the first stage, the game in the hand. But of course it wasn't to stop there. The shortcoming of console games was their lack of mobility. Although the devices were not necessarily huge, they were also not really suitable for putting in your pocket and using anywhere.
Stage 2: The Gameboy
The Gameboy changed the picture significantly at the beginning of the 1990s. It was the first gaming device that you could take with you wherever you went and play at your leisure. The main attraction was the fact that a whole range of different games were available.
The games for the Gameboy first had to be purchased and inserted into the device in a smaller form, like a disc, in order to be played. The Gameboy actually worked very much like a console, but was mobile and simply had a smaller screen. At the same time, the first mobile phones appeared with their games.
Stage 3: The mobile phone
The precursor to today's popular mobile phones were car phones at the end of the 1980s. These were phones that were installed in the car and could even be removed if necessary. This meant that drivers, especially the very important ones, could place their phones next to them on the table in the restaurant.
Of course, this was anything but practical, so mobile phones became smaller and smaller until the modern mobile phone came onto the market. Compared to today's models, these were also quite clunky, but no less unwieldy than a Gameboy. Depending on the manufacturer, there was a certain selection of games. At the time, the popularity of the models was primarily based on the selection of games. Nokia became famous simply because of its game 'Snake' and was able to maintain its top rank very easily. This would change with the first smartphones - especially the iPhone.
The smartphone and its unimagined possibilities
Today, everyone basically has a mini-computer in their hands with their smartphone. You can do everything on a smartphone, so much so that some people no longer even own a computer.
The smartphone changed the world of mobile gaming forever. Although there was still the Gameboy and similar models for games, the selection of games on the smartphone was much more varied. Some games can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store, others cost a little money - but are much more affordable than games for mobile consoles. The App Store platform is also an all-rounder for games of all kinds:
- Computer classics like Pacman
- billiards
- games of chance
- strategy games
- role-playing games
Mobile gaming remains an important factor
Now that we can see very clearly how people have gradually become accustomed to playing games on their mobile phones, the question remains as to where things will go in the future.
There is no doubt that mobile games will remain a high priority. Who knows, maybe one day you will only need an implanted chip to be able to interactively operate a playing field in front of your eyes. After all, people are already used to playing high-quality games with little hardware, regardless of their location.
