Bogdan LashchenkoRemastered versions of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto trilogy will be released as early as this fall. We’ll reveal to you what’s currently known and how you can get the games.
Mobile version also coming
Rockstar Games ’Dundee studio is preparing revamped versions of three classic PS2-era Grand Theft Auto games, including Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
These remastered versions are likely to be released in the fall of this year, either in late October or early November. Preliminarily remastered games are scheduled to be released in all popular formats and will eventually also be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Switch, PC, Stadium and mobile phones.
Plans around these GTA games have changed quite a bit over the past year as a result of the ongoing corona pandemic, and they may still change until the matter is officially announced. Initially, it seemed that these re-releases would be packaged together and given as a gift to players who bought the next generation versions of GTA V and GTA Online as a kind of bonus or thank you gift from Rockstar. Now the plans have changed.
Many fans are especially looking forward to the mobile versions of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy. Mobile gaming has become really popular in recent years. Players like that they can play on their mobile devices anywhere, anytime. For example, ninjacasino.fi is open 24 hours a day and has pages that are well suited for mobile gaming. Playing online casino games on mobile devices is very smooth and money transfers and registration are easy via mobile phone.
Rumors of revamped Grand Theft Auto games
Rumors of revamped games have been circulating for some time, but this month Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed plans to release three previously unreleased releases of old games along with previously announced games GTA V, GTA Online and Kerbal Space Program.
- Download Minecraft version 1.21 and 1.21.0: watch a sandstorm in the desert, search for an oasis, feed the jungle inhabitants with bananas, and much more! (69593)
- MENA gaming world: Top 5 popular games in the region (4241)
- The History of Online Gaming (7037)
- Stardust Integrates with Sui, Simplifying the Onboarding Experience for Game Developers Building on Sui (1072)
So Rockstar hasn’t actually named it as classic Grand Theft Auto games, but basically these three previously unreleased remasterings can include everything from Bioshock to Max Payne or Bully.
Changes coming to the games?
While remastering usually refers to minor corrections to make all elements of the original work as fine as possible, the remastering of the Grand Theft Auto series has rumored to add a lot to the games that hasn’t been seen before in the trilogy.
These three GTA games are being remastered by Unreal Engine, and one of our sources said the games look like heavily modified versions compared to the original games. However, the themes of the games are said to remain true to the originals.
Understandably, the game release schedule has changed a lot as a result of the global corona pandemic, but the current plan is to release these three games on more platforms later this year. In 2022, the games would be released for PC as well as mobile devices.
Rockstar is likely to focus first on developing console ports. At the moment, it looks like all three games will be released in one package that can only be sold digitally. While many would certainly like to purchase games separately, that may not be possible.
Rockstar’s PS2 era trilogy created a generation of open world games and were the three biggest console games. Although the three games have independent worlds and stories, they are part of the same shared universe, and certain characters appear in all three games. In addition to the trilogy, Rockstar also released two PSP games set in the same cities (one in GTA3’s Liberty City and one in Vice City). These games later became available on traditional game consoles as well. If this remastered trilogy is a success for Rockstar, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it set out to remaster other old favorite games as well. One potential remasterable game might be Red Dead Redemption, which we can hardly wait for.
