Online poker - the revolution in the game of poker

Today poker is one of the most popular games of all, along with online slots, because it is accessible to the general public. Anyone can play poker with friends at the table over a cold beer or on the computer at home. You don't have to be an expert in this field because once you have the basics of the game you can potentially win games. In addition to skill, a certain amount of luck plays a major role. If you have that on your side, you can try to get involved at an international level and even have a chance of winning against the professionals.

There are a few card games as precursors to poker as we know it today. In the beginning there were various European games that can be linked to the origins of poker. On the one hand, one can mention the German game Poch or the French game Poque. On the other hand, one can cite the Spanish card game Primero, known from the 16th century. The games Poch and Poque are derived from the German verb “pochen”, which is translated as “to poke” in English. Hence the name of the game we know today. The game was introduced to the United States by settlers in the 17th century and spread rapidly.

For several centuries it was only possible to play in the presence of other players. The invention of the internet changed this in an unexpected way. Online poker became possible in the 1990s when some fans of the game met online in a so-called "newsgroup" called RGP to discuss the subject of poker. After many discussions, these computer scientists and poker enthusiasts came up with the idea of programming a server specially designed for the game. To do this, they used the IRC, a text-based chat system, and played mostly for play money. When online poker was in its infancy, there was of course neither a graphically displayed poker table nor avatars. Even tournaments were held via email, where you received your hand via email and your play was sent back via email. Accordingly, this took hours or even weeks, which is no longer imaginable today. After playing this for a while, you began to gamble for money. The first online poker table was created on January 1st, 1998, where Texas Hold'em was offered for $ 3/$ 6. A month later, the table was made usable for 24 hours. From this point on, the software improved and the game gained more and more interested parties. When, in 2003, a gentleman named Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP tournament with a meager stake of 40 dollars and thus collected 2.5 million dollars, the reputation and interest in this game could not be stopped. A lot of money has been made in this industry over the years, even if there were few cuts such as the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act” or the scandal over “superuser accounts”, through which one could see the hand of the opponent. Online poker continues to enjoy great popularity to this day.

The highest ever win in an online poker game went to the US-Iranian-born player Antonio Esfandiari on July 1st, 2012. He won a record $ 18,346,673 when he won the Big One for One Drop of the World Series of Poker.

Nowadays there are excellent specialists from excellent casino specialists in the industry who show the best spots for poker. Both bonuses and games are popular terms that players look for on websites.
