League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview

One of the newest and most prestigious League of Legends tournaments — the Esports World Cup 2025 — is about to begin. LoL EWC 2025 kicks off on July 16 and will conclude on July 20. Twelve of the world’s strongest teams will battle for the championship title. In this blog, we’ll take a detailed look at all the LoL EWC 2025 participants, review their recent achievements to understand their current form, and try to predict how they might perform at the tournament.

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 All-Teams

12 teams from 6 regions are ready to represent their leagues at LoL EWC 2025: LCK - 3 teams (South Korea), LCP - 2 teams (Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau), LTA - 3 teams (North and South America), LPL - 2 teams (China), and LEC - 2 teams (Europe). Each team has battled through tough matches in their regional leagues as well as at MSI 2025 to earn their place here at EWC 2025. Over these four days, we’ll find out who will be crowned the new champion — or will T1 manage to defend their title this year? We’ll know soon enough, but for now, let’s get to know the teams.

Gen.G Esports

Gen.G Esports is one of the strongest teams not only in their region, the LCK, but in the entire world. They have a long list of victories at top international tournaments. This year, the team is having a very strong season:

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 1st place
  • LCK 2025 Road to MSI – 1st place
  • LCK Cup 2025 – 2nd place
  • 2024 World Championship – 3rd–4th place
  • LCK Summer 2024 – 2nd place
  • Esports World Cup 2024 – 5th–8th place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 1st place
  • LCK Spring 2024 – 1st place

Calling the start of 2025 “unsuccessful” for Gen.G wouldn’t really be fair. They played excellent League at the LCK Cup 2025 — narrowly losing in the finals 2–3 to Hanwha Life Esports, which cost them not just the match but also likely the chance to be the first-ever First Stand champions. HLE went on to dominate the rest of the bracket and took the trophy. But Gen.G got their revenge at the LCK 2025 Road to MSI by defeating their rivals and securing their spot at this year’s international event. At MSI 2025, they delivered an incredible performance, claiming the championship title by beating T1 first in the upper bracket final and then again in the grand final with a 3–2 score. Without a doubt, Gen.G is one of the main favorites for the tournament.

T1

This legendary team needs no introduction — five-time World Champions with an impressive collection of titles beyond Worlds. However, despite their incredible legacy, the start of 2025 hasn’t been easy for T1, mainly due to the departure of their star top laner Zeus to HLE. Let’s look back at their achievements in 2025 and 2024:

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 2nd place
  • LCK 2025 Road to MSI – 2nd place
  • LCK Cup 2025 – 3rd–4th place
  • KeSPA Cup 2024 – 11th–12th place
  • 2024 World Championship – 1st place
  • LCK Regional Finals 2024 – 2nd place
  • LCK 2024 Summer – 3rd place
  • Esports World Cup 2024 – 1st place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 3rd place
  • LCK 2024 Spring – 2nd place

Despite a string of second-place finishes, T1 is starting to find their form again, playing better and more confidently with each tournament. Their close final at MSI 2025 likely boosted their belief that they can beat anyone. At EWC 2025, T1 will be defending their championship title. Of course, they’re one of the clear favorites for the tournament. But EWC is also the perfect chance to prepare for Worlds 2025 — and who knows, maybe we’ll see them become the first team to lift the World Championship trophy three times in a row.

Anyone's Legend

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 3

Representing one of the world’s strongest regions, the LPL - Anyone`s Legend, is a relatively young team that has steadily grown to a world-class level. Unlike their less successful 2022 and 2023 seasons, their turning point came in late 2024, when they finally secured their first big wins and truly impressive results.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 3rd place
  • LPL 2025 Split 2 – 1st place
  • LPL 2025 Split 1 – 2nd place
  • Demacia Cup 2024 – 1st place
  • NEST 2024 – 10th place
  • LPL 2024 Summer – 5th–6th place
  • LPL 2024 Spring – 11th place

Over the past six months, the team has delivered consistent results and proven at S-Tier tournaments that they can compete with — and beat — the best. A big part of their success has been thanks to their new head coach, Tabe, who has a track record of taking teams from mid-tier status to international titles. At MSI 2025, they were just one step away from the grand final, narrowly losing 3–2 to T1 in the lower bracket final. The team is hungry for victory and knows how to win, so seeing Anyone's Legend in the EWC final wouldn’t be surprising at all.

Bilibili Gaming

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 4

Bilibili Gaming is one of the top teams in their region, and China’s LPL is rightfully considered one of the most competitive leagues in the world. However, even though they’ve qualified for EWC, in 2025 they haven’t shown the same level of dominance as last season — especially considering their excellent performance at Worlds 2024, where they came just short of claiming the World Championship title.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 4th place
  • LPL 2025 Split 2 – 2nd place
  • LPL 2025 Split 1 – 4th place
  • Demacia Cup 2024 – 5th–8th place
  • NEST 2024 – 5th–6th place
  • 2024 World Championship – 2nd place
  • LPL 2024 Summer – 1st place
  • Esports World Cup 2024 – 5th–6th place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 2nd place
  • LPL 2024 Spring – 1st place
  • Demacia Cup 2023 – 1st place

In 2024, the team confidently dominated their region. Internationally, they were just one step away from victory — twice falling to Korean teams in the finals of major tournaments. But this season has been different: they’re struggling to recapture that form, and it’s uncertain if they can once again challenge the very best teams like they did last year. Their 4th-place finish at MSI was well-earned and matches their current level of play. The team absolutely has the potential to contend for the EWC 2025 title, but they’ll need to put in a lot of work in a short time to get there.

Hanwha Life Esports

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 5

HLE is another representative from one of the world’s strongest regions, the LCK. The team has consistently performed at the international level and delivered solid results in recent years. This year, they strengthened their roster by adding one of the best top laners in the world, Zeus — a former T1 player and two-time Worlds champion (2023/2024).

  • LCK 2025 Road to MSI – 3rd
  • 2025 First Stand Tournament – 1st
  • LCK 2025 Cup – 1st
  • KeSPA Cup 2024 – 3rd–4th
  • 2024 World Championship – 5th–8th
  • LCK 2024 Summer – 1st
  • LCK 2024 Spring – 3rd

The team’s results are quite strong, and the addition of Zeus has clearly been a boost. Their setback at LCK 2025 Road to MSI actually gave them more time to prepare for the upcoming tournament. As a result, HLE is definitely one of the favorites to win EWC 2025.

CTBC Flying Oyster

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 6

CTBC Flying Oyster is a solid representative of their region (LCP). The team delivers consistent results, which helps their own development while also boosting the region’s reputation on the international stage.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 5th–6th place
  • LCP 2025 Mid Season – 1st place
  • 2025 First Stand Tournament – 3rd–4th place
  • LCP 2025 Season Kickoff – 1st place
  • PCS Summer Playoffs 2024 – 4th place
  • PCS Summer 2024 – 3rd place
  • PCS Spring Playoffs 2024 – 3rd place
  • PCS Spring 2024 – 1st place

While the team hasn’t claimed any major international titles yet and their experience outside the region is still limited, Riot’s new system is giving squads like Flying Oyster more opportunities to qualify for S-Tier tournaments and gain valuable experience. Their most recent showing at MSI 2025 was a pleasant surprise. Even though they finished 5th–6th, they played impressively, pushing many teams in close games. It’s unlikely they’ll finish higher than 5th–6th at EWC 2025, but they look very promising for the future. They have all the pieces for success — they just need more experience.

KOI

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 7

Credit: X:@MovistarKOI

MKOI represents the LEC and has been putting up good results in their region over the past six months. Their qualification for EWC isn’t a fluke, but the real question is whether they can compete against international teams this time.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 7th–8th place
  • LEC 2025 Spring – 1st place
  • LEC 2025 Winter – 4th place
  • Iberian Cup 2024 – 5th–8th place
  • EMEA Masters 2024 Summer – 33rd–36th place
  • Superliga Summer 2024 – 5th place
  • Superliga Spring 2024 – 6th place

Compared to their 2024 results, MKOI made huge progress in 2025, delivering strong performances at S-Tier events. Unfortunately, their first major event, MSI, ended in disappointment, but it was still valuable experience. At EWC 2025, they have a realistic chance of making it out of the group stage. Their biggest issue is their aggressive playstyle, which can be overdone at times. But if the team learns from these mistakes, a playoff spot is definitely within reach.

FlyQuest

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 8

FlyQuest is a team from LTA North with solid international experience. Although the start of the year was a bit shaky for them, they still managed to qualify for both MSI and EWC 2025.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 5th–6th place
  • LTA North 2025 Split 2 – 1st place
  • LTA 2025 Cross-Conference – 3rd–4th place
  • LTA North 2025 Split 1 – 3rd place
  • 2024 World Championship – 4th–8th place
  • LCS 2024 Summer – 1st place
  • Esports World Cup 2024 – 5th–8th place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 9th–10th place
  • LCS 2024 Spring – 2nd place

In their region, the team has been consistent, regularly finishing near the top and even winning some tournaments. Their international results haven’t always been as strong, but their most recent performance at MSI 2025 was a pleasant surprise. While they didn’t place at the very top, they showed a very respectable level of play and were able to challenge some of the world’s best teams.

FURIA

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 9

FURIA is a team with inconsistent results that will be making its first appearance on the international stage. Their success in their home region has been limited: over the past two years, they’ve played in only four tournaments and managed to perform well in just one of them.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 10th place
  • LTA South 2025 Split 2 – 1st place
  • LTA South 2025 Split 1 – 5th–6th place
  • CBLOL Split 2 2024 – 5th place
  • CBLOL Split 1 2024 – 9th place

They’re a fairly weak contender for the title. Sure, the group stage with its Bo1 matches might give them a chance to survive a bit longer in the tournament — but not for long. I expect them to finish near the bottom. Just like at MSI, even against weaker opponents, FURIA struggled a lot — so facing top-tier teams like Gen.G, T1, Bilibili Gaming, AL, and others will be an even greater challenge.

G2 Esports

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 10

The second representative from the LEC is G2 Esports. This is a team that has maintained a high level of play and consistent results for many years. However, compared to their dominant run in the region last year, 2025 has clearly been less successful for them.

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 7th–8th place
  • LEC 2025 Spring – 2nd place
  • LEC 2025 Winter – 2nd place
  • 2024 World Championship – 9th–11th place
  • LEC 2024 Season Finals – 1st place
  • LEC 2024 Summer – 1st place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 3rd–4th place
  • LEC 2024 Spring – 1st place
  • LEC 2024 Winter – 1st place

Unfortunately for many fans, MSI 2025 was a complete disappointment for the entire European league. G2 lost all of their matches in the Bracket Stage, managing to take only one game off Gen.G and then being swept 3-0 by FlyQuest. The team is strong and capable of winning, but if they show the same level of play at EWC as they did in recent tournaments, then sadly for G2 fans, it’s unlikely they’ll finish higher than 6th–7th place.

GAM Esports

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 11

Credit: X:@GAMesportsVN

This team - GAM Esports regularly delivers solid results in their home region but, unfortunately, still hasn’t made the jump to the international level. Let’s quickly review their recent performances to get a clearer picture:

  • Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – 9th place
  • LCP 2025 Mid Season – 2nd place
  • LCP 2025 Season Kickoff – 4th place
  • 2024 World Championship – 12th–14th place
  • VCS Summer 2024 – 1st place
  • 2024 Mid-Season Invitational – 9th–10th place
  • VCS Spring 2024 – 1st place

Much like FURIA, simply qualifying for MSI and EWC is already a decent achievement for them. The team showed a rather weak level of play at MSI 2025 and fairly ended up in 9th place. I doubt much will change for EWC 2025, so they’ll probably finish somewhere between 12th and 9th place.

Cloud 9

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025 Power Rankings: Teams Overview 12

Cloud 9 is a solid mid-tier team in their region. They usually finish around 3rd–4th place in LCS regional championships, but back in 2022–2023 they even secured first-place finishes, which gave them the chance to compete internationally at events like MSI and Worlds. Let’s take a closer look at their recent results:

  • LTA North 2025 Split 2 – 2nd
  • LTA 2025 Cross-Conference – 3rd–4th
  • LTA North 2025 Split 1 – 2nd
  • LCS 2024 Summer – 4th
  • LCS 2024 Spring – 3rd
  • 2023 World Championship – 12th–14th
  • LCS 2023 Summer – 2nd
  • 2023 Mid-Season Invitational – 5th–6th
  • LCS 2023 Spring – 1st

This is the same region as FlyQuest, which shows they’re capable of challenging and even beating certain opponents. For example, they could defeat teams like GAM Esports or FURIA, and put up a real fight against G2 Esports and MKOI. They’re competitive enough that a top-8 finish is well within reach.

Our Take and Prediction for the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025

There’s no doubt that every team at this tournament truly deserves its spot — each has gone through a long and challenging journey to get here. However, there are clear favorites, and some regions clearly stand out with a higher level of play and stronger internal competition. Many believe that the LCK and LPL remain the dominant forces in League of Legends, and this year is unlikely to be an exception.

Of course, everyone loves a good underdog story, but most likely we’ll see either an all-Korean final or a classic Korea vs. China showdown, just like at MSI 2025. The big question is: can Gen.G carry their dominance through to the end of the year? Or will T1 defend their EWC title and break Gen.G’s winning streak? Maybe HLE will rally and manage to beat the MSI 2025 finalists?
