Every Class (Mastery) in Titan Quest 2 Early Access

Titan Quest 2 doesn’t use traditional classes — instead, you pick two masteries to create your build. These choices shape your character’s abilities and playstyle for the whole game. Right now there are four masteries: Earth, Storm, Rogue, and Warfare, each with its own mechanics and skill tree. You can mix them however you want, and even respec your skills any time for full flexibility.
What is Mastery in Titan Quest 2?
In Titan Quest 2, a Mastery is basically your class. It’s the foundation of your character build, like a “main” in any other ARPG. Each Mastery brings its own set of active and passive skills, and you combine two of them to form a complete build.
- Earth – long-range caster with fire and earth spells, great for dealing with groups
- Storm – lightning and cold damage, good crowd control with freezing effects
- Rogue – high mobility, status effects, and strong single-target damage
- Warfare – melee combat focus with armor boosts and high direct damage
You get to mix two of these to create hybrid playstyles — just like in the original Titan Quest. This is where most of the build depth comes from. The synergy between masteries can change everything about how you play.
Every Mastery Explanation
Your choice of Masteries will define the pace and feel of your run. There’s no “best” combo here, just different tools depending on what kind of build you’re going for. The system is made to support both pure and hybrid characters.
These four masteries can be combined in any order to create unique classes, like Storm/Warfare (a lightning-charged warrior), Earth/Rogue (a trap-setting pyromancer), or even a tank with elemental damage. In Titan Quest 2, the system lets you gear up a mage in heavy armor or turn a warrior into a blade-wielding poison dealer — the build freedom is complete.

Earth
Earth Mastery focuses on fire and stone magic. It gives you tools like Volcanic Orb, Ring of Flame, and Earth Enchantment that deal fire damage over time, apply burn debuffs, and even stun enemies with explosive area skills. Earth is strong at clearing groups using persistent AoE damage, especially when enemies are clustered. Defensive spells like Stone Form also make it a durable choice for both pure mages and hybrid builds.

Storm
Storm Mastery specializes in lightning and cold elements. It offers crowd control through Freezing Blast and massive AoE with Chain Lightning. Cold slows enemy movement and attack speed, while lightning jumps between targets, softening or killing multiple foes at once. Storm users often kite enemies and punish them with ranged bursts, but the mastery also synergizes well with frontliners who want elemental utility.

Rogue
Rogue Mastery is about agility, traps, and deadly debuffs. It excels at applying poison, bleeding, and pierce damage through skills like Envenom Weapon and Lethal Strike. Rogues can also use Traps or Distraction for battlefield control. This mastery suits fast-paced, hit-and-run gameplay where you dive in, do damage quickly, and reposition before taking hits. It's also strong in hybrid ranged or assassin-style builds.

Warfare
Warfare Mastery is pure physical might. With abilities like Whirlwind, Batter, and Onslaught, it offers high burst damage, crowd-clearing potential, and strong passive boosts to offensive and defensive stats. Warfare skills often generate Rage, a mechanic that improves performance in combat the longer you fight. It’s an ideal base for tanks or melee builds that want to brawl on the front lines and hit hard.
Leveling system
Each time you level up, you get points for attributes, active skills, and passive bonuses. You can unlock skills in either Mastery at any time. We’ll break down the leveling system in more detail in a separate guide. This split system lets you grow both sides of your build.
Titan Quest 1 Legacy Impact
Titan Quest 2 builds on the dual mastery formula from the first game, which already let players create hybrid classes. The original is still worth checking out today, especially for players new to the series. We cover whether it's worth playing Titan Quest 1 in a separate post.
