Can Liverpool threaten Manchester City's hegemony in 2024?

There's little doubt that Pep Guardiola's team continues to dominate not only English football, but also European football. However, after a period of extensive reshuffling, one can see that the Liverpool team is finally entering a positive phase. However, will the new additions of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Gravenbergh be the force needed for a glorious season for Klopp's ever-charismatic team?

In truth, the English Premier League remains one of the most unpredictable and favourite leagues for punters. As such, analysing the form of the teams at the top of the league table makes perfect sense. Not least because if we had a very strong Tottenham side at the start of the competition, the feeling is that this season the fight for the title will be between Manchester City and Liverpool. But which team will really be stronger?

Will Salah and Nunez be the key to Liverpool's attack?

Last season, it was clear that Klopp's team wasn't responding as intended. Having fallen out of the title race early on, the truth is that it was Arsenal and City who ended up making the Premier League more interesting. However, with an Arsenal side that isn't as effective, Klopp's new team has emerged in the opposite direction and seems to be reminiscent of the football that was played a few seasons ago.

With his midfield almost entirely revamped - Mac Allister, Jones or Gravenbergh and Szoboszlai - this new team engine is fitting in very well with the talent that already came through last season. As a result, players like Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are performing much better and scoring goals more easily. Considering that Arnold, Dijk and Roberston make up a very good centre-back pairing, Liverpool are really saying something here

Will Manchester City manage their Premier League and Champions League endeavours well?

As the current winners of the Champions League, it's only natural that the English side will be looking to revalidate this unprecedented title. However, as has been proven in the past, such management isn't always the easiest to achieve. That's also why we're seeing a level of rotation that, even by Pepe Guardiola's standards, is rare to see. In fact, it could be a whole other ball game to work out what the eleven will be for Manchester City's next game. Especially with rotation up front between Alvarez, Doku, Grealish, Lewis, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, it's clear to see why City's squad is the most complete on the planet today.

That's also why, so far this season, the results in all competitions have been very positive. Leading their Champions League group and also the Premier League, much of City's good performance will also have to go through Haaland's head and feet. Although he's not a new player at City, the reality is that most of City's goals necessarily come from the Norwegian. City end up with a lot of mobile solutions in their squad, but not so much from their centre forward.

Which other teams can threaten this two-man race?

In fact, both City and Liverpool seem to be at the forefront of the race to win the Premier League. However, as there are no accessible games in the Premier League, anything can happen. From the outset, Arteta continues to field a very competent team, very similar to the one they fielded last season (when they almost won the league). The strike force of Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli and Trossard continues to command respect from any Premier League team.

Alternatively, there are the competent teams of Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa. Having already proved this season that they are teams that can beat any other team, the fight for European places will also be a spectacle in this new Premier League. Of course, the European winter market could also be a determining factor for these teams' reinforcements. However, given that the Premier League teams are some of the richest in Europe, it's unlikely that these teams won't be stronger in the second half of the season.
