Dota 2 ESL One Birmingham 2026 Review

From March 22 to March 29, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments of the spring season — ESL One Birmingham 2026 — took place. Sixteen teams competed for the championship title and a $1 million prize pool. The tournament winners were Tundra Esports, who dominated throughout the event and secured victory in the grand final. In this blog, we will summarize ESL One Birmingham 2026, discuss the prize pool distribution, and highlight the most interesting moments of the tournament.
ESL One Birmingham 2026 Group Stage Results
ESL One Birmingham 2026 began with the Group Stage. Sixteen teams were divided into two groups of eight and competed in a bo2 format, fighting for a place in the playoffs.
The bo2 format allows for the possibility of draws in matches, which adds more competition in the standings and also gives teams with less experience on big tournament stages a chance to earn more points. Examples of this were GamerLegion and Yakult Brothers, who were among the outsiders in Group A but managed to deliver good results for themselves.
The expected favorites of the Group Stage were Tundra Esports and Aurora Gaming, who advanced to the playoffs without losses. Strong performances were also shown by Team Spirit and MOUZ, while team y, PV, Team Falcons, and Xtreme Gaming also advanced to the playoffs.
Among the teams that failed to pass the Group Stage were OG and Nigma Galaxy, who were predicted to finish in the top 8–10 before the start of the tournament.
ESL One Birmingham 2026 Playoffs: Tundra Esports Dominance

The ESL One Birmingham 2026 playoffs were held in a LAN format in Birmingham at bp pulse LIVE with a capacity of 15,000 spectators.
The first round went without surprises, as the favorites won all matches except Team Falcons vs PV. In that matchup, PV sensationally and convincingly defeated Team Falcons 2–0 and eliminated them from the tournament.
In the Upper Bracket Final, Tundra Esports easily defeated team y 2–0, while in the lower bracket, Xtreme Gaming created several upsets by defeating Team Spirit and PV 2–1 after losing the first maps. However, in the Lower Bracket Final, the Chinese team lost to team y and was eliminated from the tournament, finishing in 3rd place.
In the Grand Final of ESL One Birmingham 2026, Tundra Esports confirmed their status as favorites and fairly easily defeated team y 3–1 to become the tournament champions. With this victory, the team received $250,000, 8000 EPT Points, and a $40,000 Club Reward.
ESL One Birmingham 2026 Prize Pool

Like other Tier-1 Dota 2 tournaments, ESL One Birmingham 2026 had a total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. In addition, the tournament featured a structured prize distribution system that ensured both organizations and players received a fair share of the winnings. Teams also earned EPT Points depending on their results, which will affect their positions in the seasonal rankings and invitations to future events. Here is how the ESL One Birmingham 2026 prize pool was distributed among the tournament winners:
| Place | Team | $ USD | EPT Points | Club Rewards |

| 2 | team y | $100,000 | 6800 | $30,000 |

What’s Next After ESL One Birmingham 2026?
After the conclusion of ESL One Birmingham 2026, the season continues with the next major tournament — PGL Wallachia Season 8, which will take place from April 16 to April 26.
All tournament participants are already known, and intense competition is expected, featuring such Dota 2 giants as Tundra Esports, Team Liquid, and Team Falcons. Among the participants, there are also promising teams such as NAVI, OG, HEROIC, and MOUZ.
After their victory at ESL One Birmingham 2026, Tundra Esports will need to prove that they are the strongest team. However, this will not be easy, considering the release of a new patch as well as the high level of competition at Tier-1 Dota 2 tournaments this season.
