Best Offlaners In Dota 2 Patch 7.40

On December 16, 2025, patch 7.40 was released in Dota 2, which added a new hero to the game and introduced changes to the current game balance. Changes to heroes’ abilities and items affected the game meta, resulting in an updated list of the most effective offlaners, so studying everything is necessary to achieve victories. In this blog, we will talk about the best offlaners in patch 7.40, their statistics, win rates, and strengths.

Tidehunter

Best Offlaners In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 1

The best offlaner in the new patch is Tidehunter. Thanks to improvements to his abilities and talents, the hero has become very strong. Among the main improvements are increased damage from Gush and Anchor Smash, Level 10 Talent +40 Anchor Smash Damage replaced with +20% Anchor Smash Damage Reduction, and Level 20 Talent Anchor Smash affects buildings replaced with Blubber effect triggers Anchor Smash.

  • Win rate: 58.80%
  • Pick rate: 27.03%

The statistical data reflects average values across all ranks. It is worth noting that thanks to strong improvements, Tidehunter can also be played in the carry (position 1) role, where he is also very effective.

Legion Commander

Best Offlaners In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 2

Legion Commander did not receive significant changes in this patch but shows a good win rate. Press the Attack now costs 100 mana instead of 110, and Moment of Courage cooldown was rescaled from 1.9/1.5/1.1/0.7s to 1.7/1.4/1.1/0.8s, which allows the hero to perform better in the early stages of the game.

  • Win rate: 53.29%
  • Pick rate: 22.53%

Legion Commander’s item build is standard: buy Blade Mail, Blink Dagger, and something for damage, and you will be able to make a significant contribution to your team’s victory.

Axe

Axe is also among the best offlaners in the new patch. Axe was already quite effective, and in the new patch his abilities were improved, making him even stronger. The main improvements include increased duration of Berserker's Call from 1.8/2.2/2.6/3s to 2.1/2.4/2.7/3s, Level 15 Talent +10% Battle Hunger Slow replaced with +12 Battle Hunger Damage Per Second, and Level 20 Talent Counter Helix Damage increased from +30 to +40.

  • Win rate: 52.52%
  • Pick rate: 19.53%

Axe does not require many skills and is strong across all ranks.

Broodmother

Broodmother is a rather unusual choice, as the hero is usually played in position 1 or 2. Thanks to improvements in the new patch, Broodmother also shows a high win rate in the offlane role.

  • Win rate: 55.05%
  • Pick rate: 1.27%

Broodmother is quite a difficult hero, but with the right skills you will be able to easily destroy opponents.

Viper

Best Offlaners In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 5

Viper, similar to Broodmother, can also be played in other core positions but is very effective as an offlaner. The hero did not receive significant improvements in the new patch, but thanks to the Poison Attack mana cost being decreased from 22 to 20, he can deal more damage.

  • Win rate: 52.75%
  • Pick rate: 6.91%

Viper is a very simple and versatile hero, which makes him strong across all ranks.
