Best Supports In Dota 2 Patch 7.40

With the release of the new Dota 2 patch, a new hero was added and changes were also made to the game’s meta. Many balance adjustments were introduced, affecting hero stats and items. As a result of these changes, the list of the most effective support heroes has changed, so before entering the game it is important to be aware of all the updates. In this blog, we will talk about the best supports in patch 7.40, their statistics, win rate, and strengths.

Witch Doctor

Best Supports In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 1

Witch Doctor has always been known as one of the best supports. In the new patch, the hero received minor changes, the main one being a reduction in the mana cost of activating Voodoo Restoration from 35/40/45/50 to 25, which allows for better regeneration. It is also worth noting the change to the level 15 talent: +125 Maledict radius was replaced with +4 seconds of Maledict duration, allowing the hero to deal more damage.

  • Winrate: 54,13%
  • Pick rate: 15,64%

The statistical data represents an average across all ranks and for both partial and full support roles. Witch Doctor performs well in both position 4 and position 5, but is most effective in position 5.

Lich

Lich is one of the most effective position 5 heroes in patch 7.40. The hero did not receive significant changes, but shows a strong win rate. His abilities allow him to control the lane and effectively slow down enemy aggression even in the early stages of the game.

  • Win rate: 55.05%
  • Pick rate: 14.94%

Lich is most effective in the position 5 role and can significantly increase the team’s chances of winning.

Winter Wyvern

Best Supports In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 3

In the new patch, Winter Wyvern received slight stat improvements, which had a positive impact on her win rate. Base damage was increased by 1, level 1 damage was increased from 41–48 to 42–49, and base attack range was increased from 425 to 450. Now Winter Wyvern will be even more dangerous in the lane.

  • Win rate: 58.02%
  • Pick rate: 0.81%

Currently, the hero is most often picked at high ranks. Winter Wyvern is most effective when played in the position 4 role.

Treant Protector

Best Supports In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 4

In the new patch, Treant Protector received significant changes that made the hero much stronger. Among the main ones are increased damage and slow from Nature's Grasp, increased damage to enemies and regeneration for allies from Leech Seed, and reduced cooldown of Overgrowth from Aghanim’s Scepter. Overall, almost all of the hero’s abilities were improved, making him one of the best supports.

  • Win rate: 50.37%
  • Pick rate: 0.27%

The hero has the highest pick rate (6.59) as a Soft Support, but is most effective when played as a Hard Support.

Largo

Best Supports In Dota 2 Patch 7.40 5

The Dota 2 New Hero Largo has also joined the list of the best supports in patch 7.40. The hero has interesting abilities that deal a lot of damage and help the team. Largo currently has a very high pick rate, so the win rate is slightly lower than that of other heroes, but in-game he is truly very effective.

  • Win rate: 45.19%
  • Pick rate: 39.45%

Largo is best suited for the position 4 role, as he gains the necessary items faster, which significantly increases his power.

  • Venomancer
