Best Necrobinder Builds in Slay The Spire 2 - Tier List

Necrobinder is one of the most complex and flexible characters in Slay the Spire 2. Her gameplay is built around skillful use of unique mechanics, managing the Soul resource, and synergy with cards that cycle or trigger effects on play. After the March 20 update, when Osty became stronger and the Infinity Decks were fixed, this character can manipulate the draw and discard deck even more effectively, but proper support is still required for consistent wins. In this blog, we present the Tier List Best Necrobinder Builds in Slay the Spire 2.
Strongest Necrobinder Build (Tier-S): Osty Deck

In this variant, Necrobinder starts with significantly lower HP than other characters. To compensate, she fights alongside Osty—a giant animated hand that acts as a physical shield. By empowering Osty, you effectively stack an infinite HP pool (and since it’s not Block, it doesn’t decay!).
Early Commons
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Pull Aggro | Skill | Summon 4.Gain 7 Block. | Summon 5Gain 9 Block |
Snap | Attack | Osty deals 7 damage.Add Retain to a card in your Hand. | Osty deals 10 damage |
Main Items
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Fetch | Attack | Osty deals 3 damage. If this is the first time this card has been played this turn, draw 1 card. | Osty deals 6 damage |
Flatten | Attack | Osty deals 12 damage. This card costs 0 if Osty has attacked this turn. | Osty deals 16 damage |
Sic 'Em | Attack | Osty deals 5 damage.Whenever Osty hits this enemy this turn, Summon 2. | Osty deals 6 damageWhenever Osty hits this enemy this turn, Summon 3 |
Spur | Skill | Retain.Summon 3.Osty heals 5 HP. | Summon 5Osty heals 7 HP |
Instead of using Doom as the main win condition, this archetype treats Osty as the primary damage dealer and heavily invests in boosting his attack and defense. This archetype plays more aggressively, you scale Osty turn by turn and then direct him toward priority targets. Necrobinder herself takes on a support role, feeding Osty the buffs he needs to carry fights.

Powerful Necrobinder Build (Tier-A): Doom Deck

Necrobinder has the Doom ability and the Doom Stacks mechanic, which executes enemies whose HP is equal to or lower than their Doom stacks. While this requires you to wait until the end of the enemy’s turn, you gain significantly higher numerical values on your cards in return. The Doom Deck focuses on quickly applying Doom stacks to enemies and triggering the execution threshold before they can threaten Osty or Necrobinder.
Early Commons
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Blight Strike | Attack | Deal 8 damage. Apply Doom equal to damage dealt. | Deal 10 damage |
Negative Pulse | Skill | Gain 5 Block.Apply 7 Doom to ALL enemies. | Gain 6 Block.Apply 11 Doom to ALL enemies |
Scourge | Skill | Apply 13 Doom.Draw 1 card. | Apply 16 Doom.Draw 2 card |
Main Items
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Death's Door | Skill | Gain 6 Block. If you applied Doom this turn, gain Block 2 additional times. | Gain 7 Block |
Oblivion | Skill | Whenever you play a card this turn, apply 3 Doom to the enemy. | Whenever you play a card this turn, apply 4 Doom to the enemy |
End of Days | Skill | Apply 29 Doom to ALL enemies.Kill enemies with at least as much Doom as HP. | Apply 37 Doom to ALL enemies.Kill enemies with at least as much Doom as HP |
Time's Up | Attack | Deal damage equal to the enemy's Doom.Exhaust. | Retain |
As you can see, this build is not an easy one. This archetype has high kill range, but requires proper support to be effective. Additionally, the Doom Deck plays more like a control build, where you set up kill conditions rather than shred enemies with raw damage.
Powerful Necrobinder Build (Tier-A): Soul Deck

Although Doom and Osty are interesting as classic decks, a Soul build can also be effective. Essentially, Souls are colorless cards with zero energy that draw two cards when played and have the Exhaust status effect. This means that after they are used, Souls disappear permanently.
Additionally, Souls can only be created by other cards in the Necrobinder library that explicitly state they generate them. Here is the best Soul Deck for Necrobinder.
Early Commons
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Grave Warden | Skill | Gain 8 Block.Add a Soul into your Draw Pile. | Gain 10 Block |
Glimpse Beyond | Skill | ALL players add 3 Souls into their Draw Pile.Exhaust. | ALL players add 4 Souls into their Draw PileExhaust |
Reave | Attack | Deal 9 damage.Add a Soul into your Draw Pile. | Deal 11 damage.Add a Soul+ into your Draw Pile |
Main Items
Card | Type | Effect | Upgraded |
Haunt | Power | Whenever you play a Soul, a random enemy loses 6 HP. | Whenever you play a Soul, a random enemy loses 8 HP |
Death March | Attack | Deal 8 damage.Deals 3 additional damage for each card drawn during your turn. | Deal 9 damage.Deals 4 additional damage for each card drawn during your turn |
Borrowed Time | Skill | Apply 3 Doom to yourself.Gain Energy. | Apply 3 Doom to yourselfGain 2 Energy |
Soul Storm | Attack | Deal 9 damage.Deals 2 additional damage for each Soul in your Exhaust Pile. | Deals 3 additional damage for each Soul in your Exhaust Pile |
At the start of the game, it is most worth choosing Grave Warden, Glimpse Beyond, and Reave. The first one is incredible because it generates a Soul, gives you Block, and costs only one energy, making it a great replacement for other defensive cards. Attention should also be paid to reward cards, as they provide advantages for drawing cards or, specifically, using Souls.
When it comes to truly destroying enemies, the three main cards you will need for your deck are Soul Storm, Death March, and Haunt. Soul Storm deals a large amount of damage, the longer the battle lasts and the more Souls you play.
Death March and Haunt also deal significant damage, with the former rewarding you for all cards drawn using Souls and the latter rewarding you simply for playing them. You will need several of these cards, especially Haunt, as its effect can stack and quickly get out of control.
Necrobinder Relics Tierlist

In addition to card builds, it’s also important to pay attention to relics. We have a separate article on STS 2 Relics, but here are the best ones for Necrobinder:
Tier | Relic | Reasoning |
S-Tier | Book Repair Knife | A very reliable source of healing. |
S-Tier | Dead Branch | Generates infinite value with Exhaust. |
S-Tier | Necromancer’s Crown | Enables the Minion Swarm build. |
A-Tier | Bone Flute | It may seem small, but every bit of Block can make all the difference. |
Tips for Playing Necrobinder
Pay attention to Osty’s defense in the early game. Any card or relic that heals or buffs Osty in the first few turns of combat will significantly improve your survivability.
- Prioritize Doom application in Act 1. The earlier you build a reliable Doom engine, the more consistent your executions will be in the mid and late game.
- Watch your own HP. Necrobinder’s low health pool means one bad fight without proper Osty performance can end your run.
- Consider zero Soul-cost plays. Some Necrobinder spells can have their Soul cost reduced to zero. Cards that meet this condition should be prioritized, as they allow you to flood the board with effects without spending energy.
- Carefully mix archetypes. Pure Doom and pure Osty both have clear power spikes. Hybrid decks can work, but over-diluting either strategy reduces consistency in the toughest fights.

If you prefer a strategic playstyle, managing a companion fighter and winning through mechanics, Necrobinder is one of the most interesting characters in Slay the Spire 2 for you. Her S-tier rating reflects her high potential, but she is not easy to play. Her low starting HP and high tactical density make her difficult early on, but once you get the right cards, Necrobinder becomes one of the strongest characters in the game.
