Battlefield 6 Bloom Guide: What Is It and How to Deal With It

Battlefield 6 brings back the series’ classic elements — modern warfare, intense battles, and large-scale destruction. But along with that, one familiar mechanic also returns — “bloom”, or bullet spread during shooting. It affects weapon accuracy and forces players to control their shots more carefully. In this guide, we’ll explain what bloom is in Battlefield 6, how it works, and how to minimize its impact on the battlefield.

What Is Bloom in BF6?

Since the release of Battlefield 6 on October 10, players have been able to experience all the new features the developers introduced — from the modern battlefield to intense firefights and massive destruction. Among these are also the traditional weapon characteristics, such as recoil and bloom (bullet spread).

The bloom mechanic first appeared back in Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 6 is no exception — it’s still here. Players are divided on the topic: some find bloom acceptable, while others say it ruins the feeling of shooting. So if you’re not familiar with this mechanic or want to learn how to reduce its impact, this guide will help you understand it better.

How Bloom Works in Battlefield 6

Bloom is a mechanic where bullets don’t always hit the exact center of your crosshair, even when you’re aiming directly at your target. The longer you shoot, the wider your bullets spread. This effect doesn’t just apply when firing in full auto — your shots also become less accurate when you’re moving, jumping, or sliding. The more intense your actions, the stronger the bloom effect becomes, and this applies to both close-range loadouts and long-range loadouts alike.

How to Increase Weapon Accuracy

Of course, reducing bullet spread alone isn’t enough to guarantee a kill — recoil control also plays a big role. But when combined, these two factors greatly improve your shooting accuracy. Here are a few tips to help you minimize bloom in Battlefield 6:

  • Fire in short bursts. One of the main ways to counter bloom is to control your rate of fire, especially at long distances. The first few bullets are usually very accurate, as long as you’re standing still — but that also makes you an easier target for enemies.
  • Use the right attachments. Some weapons (like the Kord AR) have Heavy or LSW barrels, which increase accuracy during sustained fire. They don’t completely eliminate bloom, but they significantly reduce it, especially if you’re using a long-range loadout.
  • Avoid bad attachments. Most foregrip attachments reduce recoil but also lower accuracy while aiming down sights. Some only affect accuracy when moving, while others reduce it all the time. To avoid this, choose grips like the Alloy Vertical Grip or Ribbed Stubby Grip, which improve stability without sacrificing accuracy.

Additionally, to recover weapon precision after long bursts of fire, you can perform a slide — this helps reset accuracy. However, in tight spaces like narrow streets or indoor areas, this technique may be difficult to pull off.

Bloom in BF6: Ruining Gunplay or a Necessary Mechanic for Balance?

Every shooter combines recoil and bullet spread — and Battlefield 6 is no exception. Some players believe that bloom ruins the shooting experience, while others see it as a necessary feature that doesn’t get in the way. In reality, bloom plays an important role in maintaining balance: without it, recoil control and weapon modifications would make gunfights too predictable. This mechanic preserves the intensity and chaos of combat, keeping Battlefield a shooter that blends skill, strategy, and action.
