All teams that made it to the Bali Major 2023: what do we know about the last Major participants?
Yuriy SheremetThe final chord of DPC 2023 is approaching with the Bali Major 2023. The last Major in 2023 will open its doors on June 29 this year, but we 're already looking forward to it: There's a new location, updated scenery, a fresh tournament contractor and more. However, the main argument for watching the Bali Major 2023 matches remains the tournament participants.
Despite the fact that some of the teams from the list of the 18 strongest clubs in the third round of DPC 2023 have already secured their place in The International, the question of winning the Bali Major 2023 remains open. It's hard to imagine a team that can turn down the lucrative prize of $500,000, 3,500 DPC points, an awesome trophy and eternal glory.
Here is a list of all participants of the Bali Major 2023, divided by region and a brief insight into the highlights of their respective leagues.
Western Europe
The conductor of the event on the Ayana Estate will be the Western European residents. In modern Dota 2, the region is at the top of the food chain: all international championships, including The International 2022, DreamLeague Season 19 and the Berlin Major 2023 have been won by representatives of Western Europe. In Bali, Western European clubs are expected to win just as much, and given the fact that they have four slots, expectations are justified.
Team | Standings |
Tundra Esports | 1st place at DPC 2023: WEU |
Gaimin Gladiators | 2nd place at DPC 2023: WEU |
Quest Esports | 3rd place in DPC 2023: WEU |
Team Liquid | 4th place at DPC 2023: WEU |
Among the participants of Bali Major 2023 from Western Europe we see familiar faces: Tundra, Gladiators and Liquid were the shock forces of the region and didn't miss a single Major tournament of the season. What's more, GG and Liquid are the only finalists of the international Major events in 2023 and therefore the main contenders to win the Bali Major 2023.
Quest Esports was a pleasant discovery in the Western European region. The club made a swift escape to this class of tournament, making it to the Major at the second attempt. The Western Europe top newcomers had previously played under the banner of Ooredoo Thunders and were about to make a splash at DPC 2023: WEU Division 1 Tour 2 but were thwarted by OG. The team was strengthened in the third round by ATF, who has experience of playing on some of the world's most prestigious stages, including ESL One Stockholm 2023.
Among other things, Quest Esports could in theory qualify for The International 2023 directly! It will be difficult as you need to win the Bali Major 2023 as a minimum, but why not?
China
The second Major region in Dota 2 has always been China. It was until 2023.
After The International 2022, the regional scene began a real turmoil. Once great teams that consistently ranked high at major tournaments can hardly boast an "average" performance this year. The Bali Major 2023 should be the redemption point for DPC China 2023 residents. Otherwise, the region needs to have a slot taken away from them at international events, of which they still have 4 for some reason.
Team | Regulation |
PSG.LGD | 1st place at DPC China 2023: China |
Invictus Gaming | 2nd place in DPC 2023: China |
Team Aster | 3rd place at DPC 2023: China |
Azure Ray | 4th place DPC 2023: China |
If the Bali Major 2023 is unimaginable without Liquid, Gladiators and Tundra from Europe, the situation is the same for PSG.LGD and Team Aster in China. Despite mediocre play outside their home league, the top Chinese clubs remain a striking force inside China and have made it to every Major season, including the Bali Major 2023, without too much trouble.
Invictus Gaming and Azure Ray are another matter. The first ones have made it to the top four with difficulty, but to be fair they did it for the second time in a row, so there is no question. Azure Ray, on the other hand, is a separate topic of discussion.
China love to sin with attempts to restore the "super" teams and Azure Ray ran the risk of falling into the same situation, but they came through. The legendary duo of Sumnus + fy along with their PSG.LGD 2018-2019 time mate Chalice returned to competitive dota and made it to the Major ! These mastodons have been sitting out their talent for a long time, but are now serious about it. Rumour has it they are playing without a paycheck, so much love for dota has returned in the run up to the Long Saugus Bali Major 2023.
Eastern Europe
Eastern European teams are also experiencing difficulties on the international stage. But who other than Western Europe has it easy now?
Unlike China and Western Europe, teams from the eastern part of the 'Old World' got 3 places at the Bali Major 2023. It did not help that Spirit had the Aegis of Champions, which they won back in 2021.
Team | Standings |
Spirit | 1st place at DPC 2023: EEU |
BB Team | 2nd place at DPC 2023: EEU |
9 Pandas | 3rd place at DPC 2023: EEU |
As difficult as things are on the international stage, things are monumental inside Eastern Europe. Defending the region's honour at the Bali Major 2023 will be Spirit, 9 Pandas and BB Team, who have previously played at both the Lima Major 2023 and the Bali Major 2023.
Particular attention is on 9 Pandas. They pulled off a sensational showing in Berlin, reaching the top 3, and the Bali Major 2023 will be a test of their mettle to see whether the Berlin Major 2023 was a fluke or whether they have deservedly risen that far.
South East Asia
Southeast Asia is in the shadow of more established regions like China and Western Europe for most of the year. It's hard for local residents to boast major results on the international stage, but they are there nonetheless. In Lima, Talon Esports unexpectedly had their say, with Mikoto and company then finishing in the top 3 of the Peruvian Major, their most iconic result of the year.
The Bali Major 2023 has a very special meaning. It is not just an opportunity to repeat, or even improve on, the result from six months ago, but also to prove yourself on the home stage. For the first time since the Singapore Major 2021, the highest-ranked tournament will be held in the vast expanses of Southeast Asia.
Team | Standings |
Bleed Esports | First place at DPC 2023: SEA |
Blacklist International | 2nd place at DPC 2023: SEA |
Execration | 3rd place at DPC 2023: SEA |
Talon, with a top regional ranking until the third round of the DPC, and a strong performance in the international arena, have not managed to secure themselves a place in the year's final Major. Their place in the Bali Major 2023 was taken by Bleed Esprots, a club trying to return to the top flight. In addition, Blacklist International will make their debut on the international stage with their line-up for the DPC Long Stage 2023.
South America
The South American dota has proven to be capable on the international stage and all thanks to Beastcoast. The DPC Long Convergence 2023 introduced the Evil Geniuses to the region and the Bali Major 2023 may well be the triumph of the evil geniuses.
Team | Situation |
Evil Geniuses | 1st place at DPC 2023: SA |
Beastcoast | 2nd place at DPC 2023: SA |
Two slots in South America is nonsense. Just look at the DPC 2023 Major results to see that:
- Lima Major 2023: Evil Geniuses - Top 6
- Berlin Major 2023: Evil Geniuses - Top 4
EG alone is enough to give South America an extra place in the Major. However, if the DPC Residents 2023: SA show again a decent game in the Bali Major 2023, we will probably see more teams from South America in the next DPC season.
North America
The North American region is one of the most uncompetitive of all. This went on for a few seasons while EG were in North America and kept the rest of the top league residents out of the seats with entry to the Major .
Later, TSM joined the permanent leader of the race, leading the region from the first to the second DPC season. But here at DPC 2023: NA Tour 3, they were displaced, which came as a real surprise.
Team | Position |
Shopify Rebellion | 1st place on DPC 2023: NA |
Nouns | 2nd place at DPC 2023: NA |
North America's perennial top 3 have finally crossed the Rubicon! The Nouns will be making their first ever debut in a championship of this ranking and may be able to compete with the more usual guests of Major tournaments.
Team distribution in the group stage of the Bali Major 2023
After a little elucidation, we suggest taking a closer look at the group stage distribution of the teams in the Bali Major 2023. We have 5 days of no-holds-barred Round-Robin and no doubt some sensational action ahead.

Blacklist International | Azure Ray |
Execration | BB Team |
Shopify Rebellion | Bleed Esports |
Team Aster | Evil Geniuses |
Team Liquid | Gaimin Gladiators |
Team Spirit | nouns |
Tundra Esports | PSG.LGD |
