G2 Esports knock out Dragon Ranger Gaming at VALORANT Champions 2025
G2 Esports advanced through the elimination match of Group D at VALORANT Champions 2025, defeating Dragon Ranger Gaming (DRG) with a clean 2-0 victory. The European roster displayed discipline and composure throughout the series, sending the Chinese representatives home without a map win.
The match opened on Lotus, where G2 quickly took control. With leaf excelling on Viper and showcasing sharp aim, the team established momentum and secured a 13-7 result. Moving to Abyss, the storyline repeated itself as G2 maintained consistency. jawgemo and JonahP stepped up with strong fragging and intelligent utility usage, guiding their team to another 13-7 finish and a swift series victory.
For DRG, Akeman stood out as the brightest individual performer, managing to find impact in several rounds. However, despite his efforts, the team struggled to keep pace with G2’s coordination and firepower. The rest of the roster showed flashes of resistance but were consistently outplayed in duels and strategic setups.
The decisive factor in G2’s success was their balance between individual skill and structured teamwork. Their defensive setups, especially after tactical pauses, disrupted DRG’s rhythm, while their attacking rounds were executed with precision and confidence. DRG tried to respond by stealing crucial rounds, but G2 consistently answered back, maintaining control of the psychological edge.
This result secures G2’s survival in the group stage, while Dragon Ranger Gaming bow out of the tournament after failing to find their footing against the European side.
