Bilibili Gaming upset G2 Esports 2–1 in thrilling VALORANT group stage series at EWC 2025
Riyadh, July 9, 2025 — Chinese squad Bilibili Gaming pulled off a statement victory against European favorites G2 Esports, securing a hard-fought 2–1 win in Group A of the VALORANT tournament at the Esports World Cup 2025.
The Best-of-3 series delivered intense action across all three maps:
- Sunset — Bilibili stormed to a dominant 13–2 win, setting the tone early.
- Pearl — G2 bounced back with a narrow 13–11 win, led by sharp aim and mid-round control.
- Icebox — In the deciding map, BLG edged out G2 13–11, closing the series with composure.
G2 Esports have lost their chances of advancing to the next stage of the tournament and will finish in 13th–16th place.
Standout Performances
The undisputed MVP of the series was whzy, who showcased exceptional mechanical skill across Jett, Sova, and KAY/O, ending the match with a 24/19/4 statline and an impressive ACS nearing 267. His multi-kills and map awareness consistently gave Bilibili the edge.
Support came from nephh, playing a utility-heavy KAY/O/Viper combo. With approximately 39 total kills, he anchored both sites and rotations with smart positioning and relentless pressure.
Despite the loss, valyn and JAWGEMO delivered big numbers for G2 — 43 and 40 kills respectively — but it wasn’t enough to tip the balance in their favor.
