DeToNator wins RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Asia-Pacific Regional 1 - Winter Open

RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Asia-Pacific Regional 1 - Winter Open has come to an end. As part of the championship, which was held online from January 28 to 29, sixteen teams from Asia fought for a total prize pool of $20,000, as well as rating points. The winner of the tournament was the Japanese team DeToNator , which in the grand final was stronger than Gaimin Gladiators with a score of 4:3.

The competition for DeToNator began with a successful performance in the group stage, during which the team got three confident victories over Tunamayo Gaming (3:0), Vainshoes (3:0) and Nimmt55 (3:0). As a result, the Japanese team took the first place in group D, having received a direct ticket to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Already in the playoffs, Nunki's wards continued to demonstrate the championship game, being stronger than Rezi's Minions (4:0) and Elevate (4:2) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. In the grand final, the Japanese team managed to overcome Gaimin Gladiators (4:3) to become the winner of RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Asia-Pacific Regional 1 - Winter Open and earn the first points in the winter split.

With this win, DeToNator secured the second spot in their region, 4 points clear of Gaimin Gladiators in pursuit of a slot at the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship Wildcard. However, the Japanese have yet to close the big lead they had on Elevate after the fall split.
