Luminosity Gaming Dominates Pokemon Unite World Championship, Sweeps Odd Man Out 3-0 in Finals
Bogdan LashchenkoSAN FERNANDO, Pampanga--The Pokemon Unite supremacy in North America remains unshaken as United States-based Luminosity Gaming emerged victorious in the Pokemon Unite World Championship, sweeping the Filipino team Odd Man Out (OMO) with a commanding 3-0 victory in the best-of-five grand finals on Saturday night at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall.
Luminosity, previously known as Blackhand, dealt OMO consecutive defeats in the first two games, capitalizing on the fatigue that had clearly affected the latter. OMO had played five playoff series, all within close proximity to each other, throughout the entire day.
Luminosity showcased their championship caliber, particularly evident in the late stages of the first two games, especially in the Rayquaza battles. They managed to take down the quest Pokemon in both instances, allowing them to secure the lead and break away from the tightly contested matches.
In a bid to reverse their fortunes in the elimination game, OMO opted for a different strategy by selecting Talonflame in the draft. Unfortunately, this plan backfired as Luminosity swiftly took control of the game, securing a dominant victory.
For their impressive performance, Luminosity earned a prize of $100,000, while OMO settled for the runner-up prize of $75,000.
This victory solidifies Luminosity Gaming's status as the reigning champions of the event, demonstrating their prowess in the Pokemon Unite competitive scene.
