Match Prediction: FearX - DRX | LoL
LCK Spring 2024 - Group StageWelcome to EGamersWorld.
We're moving smoothly through the LCK Spring 2024 schedule. On the order of the day is week two of the world's best professional league.
We're talking about the third game day of week two. More specifically, the second matchup between FearX and DRX.
We're trying to figure out which team will be stronger and earn important points in the run-up to the play-offs.
Let's go.
FearX Form
Let's open the match with an analysis of FearX's form. Here they will come out as favourites.
FearX is a relatively new name on the LCK. The team shone on the competitive scene back in 2018, but got to LCK 2024 through the merger of Liiv Sandbox and SANDBOX Gaming, so we will rely on that when analysing FearX.
Having been on the competitive scene since 2018, they started playing on LCK in 2019. First it was Top 5 at LCK Spring 2019, followed by Top 4 at LCK Summer 2019 and Top 3 at Regional Finals 2019, which wasn't enough to attend Worlds 2019.
What followed was a string of failed performances and playing at TIR tournaments. Things started to turn around in 2021 when FearX, while still Liiv Sandbox took Top 4 at Regional Finals.
It wasn't going badly in 2022 when SANDBOX were one step away from Worlds. First they finished top 3 at LCK Summer 2022 and then top 3 at Regional Finals, Ledgeiv DRX at 2-3, failing to make it to Worlds. By the way, DRX won Worlds that year, so there you go.
2023, on the other hand, was a flop, after a pretty good showing the previous season. LCK Spring 2023 was top 6, and LCK Summer 2023 was top 7.
- FearX lineup: Clear, Willer, Clozer, Hena, Execute.
FearX changed their roster significantly during the November 2023 transfer window. Clear, Clozer, Hena and Execute joined the team, while jungler Willer remained the only player from the previous roster.
In the first LCK Spring 2024 match, the team will play against KT Rolster. The revamped Telecoms should run over their less serious counterparts, and FearX should approach the game against BRION with a 0-1 score in the table. BRION, on the other hand, need to win if we're talking about wanting to qualify for the play-offs. After that will be a match against Hanwha Life Esports, where FearX has almost no chance of winning.
FearX's Most Chosen Champions
The most popular character for the top line remains KSante (7 games, 42% wins). Gnar (6 games, 83% wins), Fiora (5 games, 60% wins) are also taken.
On foresters there is nothing fundamentally new: Sejuani (7 matches, 57% wins), Wukong (6 matches, 66% wins), Maokai (4 games, 100% wins).
In the centre, the favourite patch champion is Azir (7 matches, 85% wins). Beside him are Akali (4 games, 25% wins), Sylas (4 games, 75% wins).
The most favoured ADC is Varus (6 matches, 66% wins). Lucian (4 games, 100% wins) and Ashe with Caitlyn (3 games and 66% wins each) are also popular.
Among the support players Heimerdinger (5 games, 60% wins), Karma (4 matches, 50% wins), Ashe (3 games, 66% wins), Nami (3 matches, 100% wins) stand out.
DRX Form
We continue our match review with an analysis of DRX's form. In this match, they will be playing as the number two.
The team had a mediocre 12th season in the South Korean LCK. From the achievements: 5th place at LCK Spring 2022 and 6th place at LCK Summer 2022. By any means necessary, the team made it to Worlds by finishing 2nd place at LCK Regional Finals.
Such a poor performance during the competitive year led DRX to Play-In Worlds 2022. DRX travelled the longest road to the finals of all time. They started the World Championship from the Play-In stage.
After making it to Group B at the Play-In, the team had to go through clubs like Royal Never Give Up, MAD Lions and others.
Although DRX performed in the status of a contender for passage, it was difficult to single out the collective as the sole winner. However, that's exactly what happened: DRX took the first stage of the Worlds without a hitch, coming out of their group in first place (5-0).
In the group stage, DRX shared the lead with Rogue. What followed was a true Cinderella story.
In the quarterfinals, the team outplayed the reigning World Champions, and outplayed them. The team did a Reverse Sweep, which is rare at this level of competition. Next, The International was even more interesting: victory over LCK Summer 2023 Gen.G champions LCK Summer 2023 followed by an incredible win in the grand final against T1.
After an unimaginable triumph at Worlds 2022, DRX's fame quickly faded. First the team failed at LCK Spring 2023, finishing Top 9, then Top 6 at LCK Summer 2023 and Top 4 at the Regional Finals, ultimately failing to attend Worlds 2023.
- DRX lineup: Rascal, Sponge, SeTab, Teddy, Pleata.
The main bet for the new season is Teddy. Let's see if the big name Korean can help DRX regain its former glory.
For DRX the game against HLE Stunet will be the second match within LCK Spring 2024. DRX will debut with a match against Nongshim RedForce, where I expect a full-fledged victory for the latter. Next up is a match against HLE, and they should have no problem beating the Worlds 2022 champions.
The most popular DRX champions
In the top most often played on Aatrox (4 games, 75% wins), Camille (3 matches, 66% wins), Ornn (2 matches, 100% wins), Fiora (2 matches, 50% wins).
In the woods, Kindred (4 games, 100% wins), Graves (3 games, 33% wins), Viego (3 games, 100% wins), Vi (2 matches, 100% wins) were played most often.
In the mid are classic Sylas (6 matches, 100% wins), Akali (4 matches, 50% wins), Azir (3 matches, 33% wins).
At the ADC position Miss Fortune (3 matches, 0% wins), Caitlyn (3 matches, 100% wins), Ahri (3 matches, 66% wins), Ezreal (2 matches, 50% wins) were the most frequently picked.
FearX took on Heimerdinger (4 games, 50% wins), Braum (2 matches, 100% wins), Lux (2 matches, 100% wins), Soroka (2 matches, 50 wins).
History of head-to-head meetings between FearX and DRX
Last year FearX, being Liiv SANDBOX at that time, beat DRX.
Predicted result for DRX vs FearX at LCK Spring 2024
I expect a close game in this match, which will be indicated by the game odds. As for the winner, I see FearX as the winner. There is no faith in DRX, and it will appear only after the demonstration of strength in the first LCK matches.
Bottom line: FearX wins.
