Welcome to EGamersWorld.
The competitive League of Legends of the highest calibre continues. Along with it, our LoL betting tips series continues, this time dedicated to LPL Split 2, where a series of play-offs are unfolding.
The importance of LPL Split 2 is not only in the potential championship, which in the highly competitive Chinese LPL is already an achievement, but also in the opportunity to play in international tournaments: Mid-Season Invitational 2025 and Esports World Cup 2025. The contenders for this are Invictus Gaming and Team WE.
In our betting tip we will try to understand who of the pair IG - WE will be stronger and will make it to the finals of the lower grid, and who will have to say goodbye to their claims for slots in international League of Legends tournaments.
How the bookies view it: IG favourite
Before the Long Sogpeg betting tip for the IG - WE match, we'll get to the bottom of who the pair are favourites. Bookmakers say it's Invictus Gaming, and the average odds for an IG win are at around 1.6.
All that would be fine, but I just don't agree with this state of affairs in this match. Obviously, IG has a stellar roster and they know exactly what League of Legends is and how to win here, but you have to look at WE and their path through the play-offs to realise that it's not that simple. But more on that below.
IG form. What result can be expected from Invictus Gaming
We open our betting tip for the IG vs WE match with an analysis of IG's form.
IG were once a threat not only on the local scene, but also outside of it. In 2018, for example, the team became the first Chinese world champions, but since that time, they have lost momentum.
IG's last landmark achievement was a top-3 finish at the 2020 LPL Regional Finals. The last result was Top 11 at LPL Spring 2023, where IG was literally 2 series wins short of making it to the play-offs.
- Invictus Gaming line-up: TheShy, JieJie, Rookie, GALA, Meiko.
Already in the first weeks it became clear that we shouldn't put much hope on IG. At the end of the season it is absolutely clear that IG is one of the worst teams in the draw and they will surely be re-struggling.
LPL Summer 2023 IG played in their own way. They finished in the top 12 without making it to the play-offs of the tournament. Then there were local championships like Esports Shanghai Masters 2023 where the team finished top-3, and NEST 2023 was a complete failure with a top-16 finish.
Before the Long Convergence LPL Spring 2024 Invictus Gaming played at the local championship called NEST 2023, as well as at Demacia Cup 2023. At the two championships IG did not have a high performance: NEST ended for IG without even starting, because the team did not get out of the group stage having played it with the score 0-3, and at Demacia Cup 2023 the group played with the score 3-1, but it was not enough for play-offs.
LPL Spring 2024 finished the group stage in the top 10 and made it to the play-offs. However, they couldn't stay there for long, as Weibo got in the way and closed IG with a 3-2 score. As a result - 10th place in the tournament. The summer split of the Chinese league, LPL Summer 2025, ended earlier than the spring one. This time Invictus Gaming couldn't overcome the group stage and finished in the top 13.
The 2025 Long season started with Group D at LPL Spring 2025. There they finished in TOP-1, and then finished in 5th place in the Rumble Stage. In the opening match of play-offs Invictus Gaming expectedly Ledge and BLG. Finding themselves in the bottom set of LPL Split 2, Invictus Gaming defeated FPX and Weibo Gaming.
Most popular Invictus Gaming champions
IG's most popular Invictus Gaming champions were Fiora (5 games, 60% wins). There was also Jax (3 games, 100% wins), Camile (2 matches, 100% wins), Irelia (2 matches, 100% wins).
In the forest OP Maokai (7 matches, 85% wins), Sejuani (4 games, 75% wins), Viego (2 matches, 100% wins).
The centre line was occupied by Azir (5 matches, 80% wins), Sylas (3 games, 66% wins), Kassadin (2 matches, 100% wins), Ryze (2 games, 50% wins).
Shooters set is standard: Varus (4 games, 50% wins), Lucian (4 games, 100% wins).
Sapports are diverse: Nami (3 games, 100% wins), Ashe (3 games, 0 wins), Varus (2 games, 100% wins), Miss Fortune (2 games, 100% wins).
Team WE form. What result can be expected from WE
We continue the breakdown of WE vs IG match with the analysis of WE form.
The season before last Team WE frankly failed. The team took 15th place at LPL Spring 2022 and 17th at LPL Summer 2022. However, the team managed to improve a bit during LPL Spring 2023.
Getting into the play-offs of LPL Spring 2023 is already an indicator. Team WE won 8 matches out of 16 played to advance to the main stage. However, they failed to move further into the top 10.
After a very poor performance on the home stage, Team WE continued to play in the LPL, namely at the summer split - LPL Summer 2023. In the course of the tournament, WE managed to finish in the top 9 of the group stage, thus guaranteeing themselves a play-offs appearance. However, everything ended in the first round of the main stage: WE lost to EDG with a score of 1-3 and left the championship, having finished LPL Summer 2023 in the top 10.
Prior to playing at Demacia Cup 2023, Team WE also played at NEST 2023. It was another hybrid Asian championship where professionals and amateurs play in one place. There WE played very confidently in the group, took the 2nd place and entered the play-offs, but were immediately beaten by JD Gaming. As a result - TOP-6.
- The composition of Team WE: Wayward, Heng, FoFo, Prince, Iwandy.
At Demacia Cup they are approaching with an experimental lineup. Prince is NOT the core, but otherwise it's pretty serious. However, this did not help Team WE to get out of the group: at the end of Demacia Cup 2023 the team took the top 12, which is not a good result.
Team WE, being a mid-table team at best, managed to get to the main stage of LPL Spring 2024, which can already be called a good result. However, they didn't make it past the first second round of the play-offs and finished in the top 8.
They played at LPL Summer 2024 and things went much worse and as a result - TOP-16. They finished the year by playing at the Demacia Cup 2024 with a top-16 finish.
In the 2025 Long season, Long Sogpeg did the same as they finished last season. At the LPL 2025 Split 1, finishing in the top-16.
At LPL 2025 Split 2 made it through the group stage via an additional Ascend qualifier, and after that in the Rumble Stage, placed Top 6. In the first round of play-offs, they lost to tournament favourite Anyone's Legend without a chance, and then the magic began as WE first beat JDG and then beat Top Esports. That's the Top 3 and Top 1 teams on the Rumble Stage, just for a second.
Most popular Team WE champions
On the top line, Team WE has no revelations. The team picks KSante (4 matches, 50% wins), Renekton (3 games, 33% wins), Gnar (3 matches, 66% wins).
In the forest all the same, more or less standard: VI (7 games, 57% wins), Maokai (3 games, 66% wins), Poppy and Sejuani 2 matches and 0 wins each.
On the centre line with no deviations. There are Azir (4 matches, 50% wins), Ryze (4 games, 50% wins), Syndra (2 games, 50% wins), Cassiopeia (2 matches, 50% wins).
The championship among shooters is held by Lucian. Champion appeared 5 times, but won only 2 matches. Tried to Zeri, but failed: 0-3 in three appearances.
Among the supporting champions, Nami was a success. She was picked up 5 times, and her winrate was 40%. Yummi (3 games, 0% win rate) and Ashe (3 games, 66% win rate) were also picked.
Recent head to head: IG edging it
Invictus Gaming is clearly ahead in terms of head-to-head history. IG won three times last year.
Players to watch: Monki and TheShy
The centre of attention for me will be Team WE's Monki and IG's TheShy. If it's too much to say anything about the latter (the name speaks for itself), then Monki is the season opener. Team WE's forester plays very well against the region's titular performers, and considering his little experience in such top matches, it's worth a lot.
Predicted result of the match between IG - Team WE at LPL Split 2 Playoffs
Given the way WE play in the LPL play-offs, I expect a very even match. Of course, IG has a better chance to win and that's mostly due to their big name and experienced players, but JDG and TES also had those. However, the main question will still be whether WE have enough powder in their powders for such a run? Doubtful, but we'll see.
Betting prediction: Team WE win.
