Match Prediction: T1 - KT Rolster | LoL
LCK Spring 2023 - PlayoffsIn South Korea, the play-offs of the LCK, the biggest professional league in the world, have started. The best teams in the region, and by extension the world, are fighting for $289,000 and two berths to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
The first round is over and there was room for surprises. For example, the star-studded Dplus squad failed to pass the HLE and left the championship, but that's not the point now.
Next up is the "telecoms" derby. KT Rolster will try to send the mastodons from T1 to the bottom net. As paradoxical as it sounds, they seem to be the only ones who can do it.
T1 have mercilessly passed the group stage of the spring split. The team finished the regular season with a score of 17-1 in matches and 35-8 on the cards.
KT Rolster went 13-5 in regular season play. That wasn't enough to get them into the LCK Spring 2023 semi-finals, but it was enough to get them into the main event.
Let's sort out who will be the winner of this derby and qualify for the top net final, and who will have to continue their journey to the LCK championship via the bottom net.
Form T1
Let's start our review of the semi-finals by analysing the playing form of the South Korean Titans T1. In this match, they will have to play as favourites.
The bookmakers have decided their winner. The odds on T1's success in their first clash at LCK Spring 2023: Playoffs are estimated at odds in the region of 1.2.
To be honest, that figure is a compliment in favour of KT Rolster. But although T1 is by far the strongest of their South Korean opponents, you shouldn't dismiss the Bo5 factor and the fierce preparation of the other contestants for them.
T1 line-up
The T1 line-up for the new season remains unchanged. After the emotional loss at Worlds 2022, the club's management decided not to reshuffle it, and we think they did the right thing.
Players of T1
- zeus
- Oner
- Faker
- Gumayusi
- Keria
The synergy of the squad is brought to a near-perfect state. All the T1 links are in perfect synchronization, which in the end produces a fairy-tale result.
In the spring season, LCK T1 are so relaxed that they take direct risks and allow for unexpected experiments. Most of the non-trivial mouveaux consist of peaking champions into roles they weren't designed for, but thanks to the performers it works.
The T1 roster is so steep that it completely made up the ALL-LCK First Team of the season. It's a local symbolic team, and separately Keria was a split player and regular season MVP.
T1 Performance.
Last year T1 stopped one step away from another world championship. They lost their fourth title by a score of 2-3 to DRX.
In the new season, the team, being professionals with a capital letter, did not let go of the frustrating situation with the Worlds 2022 grand final and started to dictate their own rules. The regular season ended with a 17-1 statistic.
The only defeat came against KT Rolster. Then the "little brother" managed to take the series by a score of 2-1.
T1 champions
The most popular champion on the top line is Gnar (10 games, 90% win). Jayce appeared 8 times and the win rate was 87%. Kenen played 4 times and won all games, KSante 4 times and 3 wins, Renekton 4 times and 2 wins.
In the Forest, Vi (11 games, 72% wins), Sejuani (10 games, 80% wins), Wukong (7 games, 85% wins), Le Sin (6 games, 83% wins) were picks.
On the centre line were Azir (13 games, 69% wins), Gragas (6 games, 100% wins), Kassadin (5 games, 100% wins), Viktor (4 games, 75% wins).
The most popular shooter is Lucian (12 games, 83% wins). Next are Varus (8 games, 87% wins), Caitlyn (5 games, 100% wins), Zeri (4 games, 75% wins).
Nami (13 games, 84% win rate). Ashe and Lux have 4 games and 4 wins each.
KT Rolster form.
Against T1 will be KT Rolster. The team will have to play the number two.
The bookmakers obviously don't believe in KT Rolster's success in the bo5 match. The odds on a win for the "junior" division of the Telecoms are at 3.8.
Again, for this stage of games and with such a competitor, 3.8 to win a match is still a workable figure. Especially once KT Rolster already beat T1, and why shouldn't history repeat itself?
KT Rolster's line-up
KT Rolster can't boast a roster at least close to that of T1. And no wonder, because the South Korean giants spent a long time selecting their squad before they finally formed it, while KT were shuffling before the start of LCK Spring 2023.
KT Rolster players
- Kiin
- Cuzz
- Bdd
- Aiming
- Lehends
Headlining the squad are midfielder Bdd and gunner Aiming. However, Lehends, the 2023 spring season, is an excellent attacker, showing an effective game with a 71% usage rate. The woodsman Cuzz, who played for T1 in 2021, is not far behind. He has a utility rate of 70%.
All in all, a pretty workable pool of players. You can see that in the team's results as well.
KT Rolster's efficiency.
Last season, still with a slightly modified squad, the team took the top 4 at the LCK Regional Finals 2022. They were beaten by DRX.
In the new year, KT Rolster had a very confident run through the LCK regular season. The team won 13 series and lost 5 games: 28-15 on the cards.
KT Rolster started the playoffs in the first round of the main stage. Their first opponent was SANDBOX Gaming, whom KT Rolster predictably shut out 3-1, with KT Cuzz's "engine" being the best player of the match.
KT Rolster champions
KT Rolster's favourite top line champion is Jax (7 matches, 100% wins). Camile (5 matches, 40% wins), KSante (4 matches, 25% wins), Renekton (4 matches, 75% wins), and Gnar (3 matches, 33% wins) are also coming up.
There's much less variety in the woods. The most popular are Wukong (12 matches, 41% wins), Sejuani (11 matches, 63% wins). There's also Vi (5 games, 60% wins).
The centre line is all by the meteor. The most popular: Ryze (5 games, 40% wins), Azir (5 games, 80% wins), Syndra (4 games, 25% wins), Yone (4 games, 100% wins), Twister Fate (3 games, 100% wins), Taliyah (3 games, 66% wins).
The preferred shooters are Zeri (10 games, 70% wins), Ezreal (7 games, 100% wins), Lucian (5 games, 0% wins), Varus (5 games, 60% wins).
Karma (10 games, 80% wins), Lulu (7 matches, 71% wins), Nami (6 matches, 16% wins) appear the most frequently on the support.
History of head-to-head encounters
The teams have played each other during the regular season. They have played two matches and the score of the face-offs is 1-1.
The first game was won 2-1 by KT Rolster. The second game was won by T1 with a score of 2-0.
The outcome of the game.
Given a full-fledged bo5, I don't see a chance for KT Rolster. The level of play of the teams is too different.
Yes, KT Rolster managed to outplay T1 during the regular season, but then T1 also responded by taking game two. I don't believe that Rolster will repeat the success of the group stage and be able to pick up more than 1 card in a boo5 match, though it won't be easy either.
Outcome: victory for T1.
Bookmakers & Statistics
According to leading bookmakers predictions, the team T1 are the favorite with average odds 1.339 at the moment. Respectively, bookmakers consider KT Rolster to be the outsider of the match with odds on a victory in the sum of about 4.053.
