The competitive League of Legends 2025 season doesn't seem to be coming to an end. The final battles of the European region, i.e. LEC, are unfolding on our screens.
We are preparing for the LEC play-offs, which will start on 5 September 2025. It will start with a lower grid match between Heretics and Vitality.
We will see which of the Vitality - Heretics pair will be the stronger and make it through to the next stage of the play-offs, getting one step closer to the coveted ticket to Worlds 2025.
Here we go.
How the bookie sees it: Vitality in favour
Before the match, let's take a look at the Vitality - Heretics pairing as favourites. Vitality are the favourites in this match: the odds for the victory of the "Bees" are at 1.5. The odds for the victory of their opponent, Team Heretics, are at 2.6.
Vitality Form: What to expect from Vitality
Vitality is a rather questionable team. They showed a rather unstable game throughout last year. Globally speaking, their 13th season was a serious failure.
They started last season by participating in LEC Winter 2023. In the regular season, Vitality went over the heads of their opponents: they played it 7-2 and then went to play the group stage, where they had much less luck. So much so that Vitality failed to get out of their basket, Ledgeiv SK Gaming and KOI. As a result, the top 5.
Next up was an appearance at LEC Spring 2024. This was Vitality's best split where they managed to make it to the top 3. However, that was enough for exactly nothing: just Top 3.
The last tournament last season for Vitality was LEC Summer 2023. And it was a total fiasco: Vitality had their worst performance of the year, going 1-8 in the regular season and finishing the split in the top 10.

The team has a pretty strong lineup, but realisation is Vitality's kryptonite.
In the first match of LEC Winter 2024 Team Vitality will play against GIANTX, where I see problems for the Bees. I think EXCEL's peppy core will give Vitality a boost. And so it happened. And two more defeats later, against Fnatic and Team BDS.
Vitality were actually pleasantly surprised. After Long Sogpeg 0-3, the "bees" managed to comeback to score 4-5, thus making it to the next stage of the tournament.
In the first round of the LEC Winter 2024 play-offs Vitality played against SK Gaming. Surprisingly, the French were very convincing and closed the series with a score of 2-0. However, things were not so rosy after that, as Vitality played a derby against BDS, which ended with a very convincing victory of the latter. The next match was the last one for Vitality in LEC Winter 2024. They played it against MAD Lions KOI and lost 0-2.
At the end of LEC Winter 2025 Vitality were ranked in the top 6. After 5 weeks of matches Vitality are on the 6th position with a score 3-4, but there is still a match against Karmine Corp. ahead.
LEC Spring 2025 was virtually identical. Vitality played the group stage and then the top 8 in the end.
The group stage of the summer split, aka LEC Summer 2025, went "on the brink." They finished top-4 in Group A, advancing to the first round of the lower grid play-offs.
Vitality most popular champions
The most frequent visitor to the top line was Jax (2 matches, 100% wins). Also picked were KSante, Gnar, Gwen and Ornn, Renekton and Gragas. Ornn and Renekton lost their matches, not quite hitting the season 13 meta.
Bo predominantly played as Vi. One of the most meta characters of the season appeared in spades 4 times and won all his games. There was also Sejuani and Maokai (2 games and 1 win each).
On the centre line, Azir was the favourite character (3 games, 100% wins). The Croatian also played Ryze, Syndra, Cassiopeia, Tristana, LeBlanc and Taliyah. Only Tristana and LeBlanc lost.
Of the shooters, Zeri (3 games, 66% wins), Ezreal (2 matches, 100% wins), Varus (2 games, 100% wins) appeared most often. Caitlyn and Sivir peaked once each: the former won her game and the latter lost.
Of the supporting characters, Yummi (3 games, 33% wins), Ashe (2 games, 100% wins) played three times. Leona, Braum, Nami and Lux won once each.
Heretics Form: What to expect from Heretics
The Heretics have been in the LEC structure since 2022. In their "debut" season, Team Heretics played on the TIR-2 stage, more specifically in Superliga Summer 2022 (Top 1), European Masters Summer 2022 (Top 1) and Iberian Cup 2022, where they finished Top 2.
In 2023, the Heretics entered the LEC series of tournaments. The successes were not so good: first TOP-8 at LEC Winter 2023, with SK Gaming knocking them out.
In spring the situation only got worse: Heretics again failed in the group stage, this time playing it with a score of 3-6 and not making it to the play-offs.
In the next round of the LEC draw, Team Heretics performed their best as an affiliate team. They took the top 4 at LEC Summer 2023, Ledge and Fnatic in a battle for the top 3. Heretics secured $5,512 by finishing in the top 4.

After a series of bad performances last year, Heretics changed their roster by signing top European players. Let's see how they will do against the strongest representatives of the region.
The group stage of LEC Winter 2024 was not so good. The team was quite brisk in the group stage, but later slipped to 4-5.
Going into the play-offs Heretics faced BDS - the best team of the group stage of LEC Winter 2024. The French club fully justified their status by winning 2-0 and Heretics travelled to the bottom of the group stage.
The LEC Winter 2024 play-offs did not last long. Heretics defeated SK Gaming 1-2 in the first match of the main stage, leaving the championship at the TOP-8 stage.
At the end of the LEC Spring 2024 regular season Heretics finished in the top 4. In the first round of play-offs Heretics faced BDS and rather ignominiously fell to the bottom net after a 0-2 defeat. Already in a match for life in the first round they played against SK Gaming where they won 2-1 and it was pretty tough. Next was a match with Fnatic, which ended 2-3 in favour of the Orange, and Heretics missed a chance to prove themselves at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024.
The Heretics made it to the LEC Summe 2024 Playoffs by a slim margin. They finished in 6th place with a score of 3-6.
The LEC Summer 2024 playoffs began with a very lacklustre loss against SK Gaming. After a similarly lacklustre performance against GiantX and a top-7 exit.
Heretics finished the group stage of LEC Winter 2025 with a bit of grief, taking the 8th place with a score of 3-6. In the first round of play-offs Heretics fell to Fnatic, where they lost 0-2, which was highly expected. Next was a lower grid match and a 1-2 loss to GiantX and a top-8 finish.
At the end of the group stage of LEC Spring 2025 Heretics finished in the top 6. They only made it to the play-offs after a re-match with Vitality, where Heretics were stronger in Bo1. However, that was the end of their journey: they lost in the first round of the play-offs to Karmince Corp and were relegated to the Top 6.
At LEC Summer 2025, Heretics played in Group B, where they managed to reach the Top 3, albeit with a 1-3 score.

Aatrox (3 matches, 100% wins) and Renekton (2 matches, 100% wins) appear on LOUD's top line.
Sejuani (4 matches, 100% wins) and Wukong (3 matches, 66% wins) are in the jungle.
On the centre line, Taliyah (3 matches, 100% wins) and Lissandra (3 matches, 66% wins) are not the most popular.
Among the shooters Aphelios (4 games, 75% wins) and also Xayah (3 games, 66% wins).

In this match we should expect a roughly equal game. Both teams showed a terrible performance in the group stage and are unlikely to go far in the play-offs. If we are talking about the winner, let it be Heretics, who have already beaten Vitality twice in the season.
