Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We continue to watch the action at LEC Summer 2025 as the play-offs stage unfolds. The top prize at LEC Summer 2025 remains 3 trips to Worlds 2025.
We are at the finish line of the LEC Summer 2025 Playoffs, which means that some of the Worlds 2025 tickets have already been awarded. G2 Esports and KOI have already earned themselves a slot to the LoL World Championship 2025 from Europe and now their head-to-head match is for prestige: who will be the first to reach the final of LEC Summer 2025.
Let's try to find out who from the pair G2 Esports - KOI will be stronger and will pass to the next stage of LEC Summer 2025, namely the grand final, and who will have to continue their game in the lower grid.
Let's go.
How The Bookie View It: G2 Esports in favour
Before the Long Sogpeg of the match, G2 Esports are the favourites. Bookmakers give the odds of 1.4 for the victory of G2. The opponent of G2 Esports, KOI, in the status of outsider with odds to win at around 2.8.
G2 Esports form: What to expect from G2
G2 Esports began their journey to LEC Winter 2024 with a match against BDS, one of G2's main rivals on their way to their championship. Next up was a match against Karmine Corp, where it should be easier than the game against BDS. In fact, it was, but the match against Rogue was perhaps the first sensation of the opening week of LEC Winter 2025, as G2 Ledgeili. Well, that's what the Bo1 is for.
During the regular season LEC Winter 2024 showed a standard game for themselves. G2 Esports won 7 out of 9 matches, sharing the top 1 of the table with BDS.
In the Long Corner play-offs LEC Winter 2024, G2 Esports easily defeated GiantX 2-0. Next, G2 Esports faced Fnatic in the quarter-finals, where the Orange looked good: they were able to pick up a map, but it didn't affect the outcome of the match. Next, G2 Esports met BDS in a match to advance to the grand finals and swatted the Frenchmen 3-0 without a hitch. Almost the same fate awaited MAD Lions KOI in the grand finals, with only one card difference.
G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and showed a very solid result there. They managed to reach the top 4, which is a pretty high result for a team from LEC.
- G2 Esports roster: BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov.
Before playing at Esports World Cup 2024, G2 Esports guaranteed themselves a place in the play-offs of LEC Summer 2024. At the EWC 2024 itself, G2 Esports Long Sogpeg with a win over FlyQuest, but then Ledge or TES in advancing to the grand finals.
The LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs started with a pretty solid 2-0 win over Karmine Corp. Next, an equally easy win over BDS and as a result, they made it to the top 3. In the match to reach the grand final of the upper grid of LEC Summer 2024, G2 Esports played against Fnatic, where they lost with a score of 2-3. In the lower grid match, they defeated BDS 3-2 and went on to become LEC Summer 2024 champions by defeating Fnatic in the final.
LEC Season Finals 2024 Long Long started with an unexpected defeat to MAD Lions KOI (2-3). However, that didn't stop G2 from comingback through the bottom set, beating all their opponents and eventually becoming the champions of LEC Season Finals 2024.
Their debut at Worlds 2024 came in a match against paiN Gaming, where G2 was stomped by the combination of Yone + Yasuo. In the next match, against LCK Summer 2024 champions Hanwha Life Esports, taqi fThe Internationals didn't work and G2 lost. But they got into the net 2-1, winning WBG in a pretty confident manner. However, they went on to lose to T1 and BLG, dropping to the Top 12.
The group stage of LEC Winter 2025 went 6-3 and 3 wins. In principle, this is not bad, but remembering the performance of G2 last season, we should expect a completely different and better game in the play-offs. In the first round of the play-offs they showed just such a game: they outplayed GiantX with a score of 2-0 without much chance for the latter. In the second round of the top play-offs, they beat Fnatic, G2's main LEC rival, cleanly. Next up was a 3-1 win over Karmine Corp. The grand finals featured a rematch against Karmine Corp, where G2 literally "blew away", losing 0-3.
G2 Esports went through the group stage with a squeak. They finished the regular season with a score of 5-4, getting into the "last carriage" of the top play-offs. In the play-offs they "restarted" and confidently reached the grand finals, but at the most important moment, they again missed the championship, losing to MKOI.
Despite losing in the LEC Spring 2025 Grand Finals, G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI) where they finished in the top 8, again a poor result. In addition to playing at MSI 2025, G2 Esports also attended Esports World Cup 2025, the second international tournament of the season. There they reached the TOP-4 and even played in the match for the 3rd place, where they lost to T1.
During LEC Summer 2025 G2 Esports showed a confident game in the group stage. Finding themselves in Basket B, the Samurai closed out the group with an 8-0 win. In the first play-offs match, G2 Esports defeated Karmine Corp 3-1, thus earning their slot at Worlds 2025.
G2 Esports most popular champions
Gragas (3 matches, 66% wins) is sent to the top line.
In the forest, either Belveth (2 matches, 100% wins) or Maokai (2 games, 50% wins) or Gragas (2 matches, 50% wins).
On the centre line variety: Yasuo, Sylass, Cassiopeia and Yone have appeared in spades once each and won their game.
Draven (3 matches, 66% wins) is playing from the shooters.
On Support Nautilus (2 matches, 50% wins), Nami (2 matches, 50% wins).
Koi form: What to expect from KOI
KOI has been "inside" the LEC ecosystem for a long time, and have been in and out of the main tournament, i.e. the LEC. So, for example, last season KOI was actually MAD Lions. If we talk about KOI as a separate organisation, then everything is quite modest there.
- KOI roster: Myrwyn, Elyoya, Jojopyun, Supa, Alvaro.
In the 2023 season, KOI participated in the LEC. They didn't have much success. After a top performance at LEC Winter 2023, where KOI finished top 3, they were top 6 and top 8 at LEC Spring 2023 and LEC Summer 2023 respectively. However, KOI's roster is pretty fighting, as the core of MAD Lions remained, and they used to be a pretty strong competitor for G2 and Fnatic level tops.
After "comeback" on the big stage of League of Legends, KOI showed themselves perfectly in the group stage of LEC Winter 2025. The team won it 6-3, sharing the position with G2 and Karmine Corp. Once in the LEC Winter 2025 play-offs, KOI beat BDS 2-0, but then Ledge and Karmine Corp 2-0. In the bottom set of the main stage, they beat GiantX 0-2. Then beat GiantX, but lost to Fnatic in the following match, making the LEC Winter 2025 top 4.
Over the 6 weeks of LEC Spring 2025, the team managed to earn a trip to the play-offs. In the LEC Spring 2025 play-offs, KOI unexpectedly defeated Karmine Corp 3-2 in the Long Cogpeg match, thus advancing to the final of the upper grid. There they met G2 Esports and expectedly lost 1-3. However, back in the LEC Spring Grand Final, KOI unexpectedly beat G2, taking the championship title. This allowed them to attend MSI 2025, where the team placed Top 7, which is actually a good result for a team from LEC.
At LEC Summer 2025, KOI placed top-2 in Group B. KOI played against Fnatic at the Long Crest play-offs and won a tough series 3-2.
KOI most popular champions
Fiora (2 matches, 100% wins) and K'Sante (2 matches, 50% wins) appeared in the top of MAD Lions most often. Renekton (1 game, 100% wins) and Gnar (1 game and that defeat) were also taken.
Sejuani (3 matches, 66% wins) is popular in the forest. Next is Wukong with 2 appearances and 50% wins, and there was also Maokai who won his only match.
On the centre line, Viktor (1-1) and Akali (1-1) have 2 matches each. Azir and Sylas won their matches.
From shooters Varus appeared most often (3 matches, 66% of wins). Lucian was picked 2 times (1-1) and Sivir was picked once more (1-0).
Thresh (1-1), Lulu (1-1) were picked more often than others. Nami and Ashe, who appeared 1 time each, won all their matches.
KOI - G2 Esports Head-to-Head.
The teams have played each other 4 times in the 2025 season. G2 Esports won 3 matches and KOI won the last series.
Predicted result for the match between G2 Esports - KOI at LEC Summer 2025 Playoffs
This match should be the "jewel" of LEC Summer 2025. Both teams showed their class both during the season and at the Long Island play-offs. More epic was KOI, who defeated Fnatic in a tough Bo5 with a score of 3-2, but G2 also beat one of the league favourites KC with a score of 3-1. I expect an even game, on 5 maps, and I choose G2 win only because of the history of personal meetings.
Prediction: G2 win.
