We continue to follow the action at LEC Summer 2025. As the summer split heats up, the play-offs are heating up as 8 teams continue to battle it out for 3 trips to the LoL World Championship 2025.
Among the contenders for passage to the most prestigious tournament of the year are G2 Esports and Karmine Corp. The teams will start their journey to the coveted tickets in the top set of play-offs LEC Summer 2025.
Let's see which of the pair of G2 Esports - Karmine Corp will be stronger and make it to the next round of the upper grid, and which of the teams will continue their way in the lower grid play-offs.
Let's go.
How the bookie view it: G2 Esports favourites
G2 Esports are the favourites ahead of the match. Bookmakers give odds of 1.3 for the victory of the Samurai. Considering the recent results of G2 on the home stage, this is quite a bold figure.
On the victory of Karmine Corp give odds of around 3.
G2 Esports form. What to expect from G2
G2 Esports started their journey to LEC Winter 2024 with a match against BDS, one of G2's main rivals on their way to their championship. Next up was a match against Karmine Corp, which should be an easier game than the one against BDS. In fact, it was, but the match against Rogue was perhaps the first sensation of the opening week of LEC Winter 2025, as G2 Ledgeili. Well, that's what the Bo1 is for.
During the regular season LEC Winter 2024 showed a standard game for themselves. G2 Esports won 7 out of 9 matches, sharing the top 1 of the table with BDS.
In the Long Corner play-offs LEC Winter 2024, G2 Esports easily defeated GiantX 2-0. Next, G2 Esports faced Fnatic in the quarter-finals, where the Orange looked good: they were able to pick up a map, but it didn't affect the outcome of the match. Next, G2 Esports met BDS in a match to advance to the grand finals and swatted the Frenchmen 3-0 without a hitch. Almost the same fate awaited MAD Lions KOI in the grand finals, with only one card difference.
G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and showed a very solid result there. They managed to reach the top 4, which is a pretty high result for a team from LEC.
- G2 Esports roster: BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov.
Before playing at Esports World Cup 2024, G2 Esports guaranteed themselves a place in the play-offs of LEC Summer 2024. At the EWC 2024 itself, G2 Esports Long Sogpeg with a win over FlyQuest, but then Ledge or TES in advancing to the grand finals.
The LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs started with a pretty solid 2-0 win over Karmine Corp. Next, an equally easy win over BDS and as a result, they made it to the top 3. In the match to reach the grand final of the upper grid of LEC Summer 2024, G2 Esports played against Fnatic, where they lost with a score of 2-3. In the lower grid match, they defeated BDS 3-2 and went on to become LEC Summer 2024 champions by defeating Fnatic in the final.
LEC Season Finals 2024 Long Long started with an unexpected defeat to MAD Lions KOI (2-3). However, that didn't stop G2 from comingback through the bottom set, beating all their opponents and eventually becoming the champions of LEC Season Finals 2024.
Their debut at Worlds 2024 came in a match against paiN Gaming, where G2 was stomped by the combination of Yone + Yasuo. In the next match, against LCK Summer 2024 champions Hanwha Life Esports, taqi fThe Internationals didn't work and G2 lost. But they got into the net 2-1, winning WBG in a pretty confident manner. However, they went on to lose to T1 and BLG, dropping to the Top 12.
The group stage of LEC Winter 2025 went 6-3 and 3 wins. In principle, this is not bad, but remembering the performance of G2 last season, we should expect a completely different and better game in the play-offs. In the first round of the play-offs they showed just such a game: they outplayed GiantX with a score of 2-0 without much chance for the latter. In the second round of the top play-offs, they beat Fnatic, G2's main LEC rival, cleanly. Next up was a 3-1 win over Karmine Corp. The grand finals featured a rematch against Karmine Corp, where G2 literally "blew away", losing 0-3.
G2 Esports went through the group stage with a squeak. They finished the regular season with a score of 5-4, getting into the "last carriage" of the top play-offs. In the play-offs they "restarted" and confidently reached the grand finals, but at the most important moment, they again missed the championship, losing to MKOI.
Despite losing in the LEC Spring 2025 Grand Finals, G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI) where they finished in the top 8, again a poor result. In addition to playing at MSI 2025, G2 Esports also attended Esports World Cup 2025, the second international tournament of the season. There they reached the TOP-4 and even played in the match for the 3rd place, where they lost to T1.
During LEC Summer 2025 G2 Esports showed a confident game in the group stage. Finding themselves in Basket B, the Samurai closed out the group with an 8-0 win.
G2 Esports' most popular champions
Gragas (3 matches, 66% win rate) is sent to the top line.
In the forest, either Belveth (2 matches, 100% wins) or Maokai (2 games, 50% wins) or Gragas (2 matches, 50% wins).
On the centre line variety: Yasuo, Sylass, Cassiopeia, Sejuani and Yone have appeared in spades once each and won their game.
Of the shooters, Draven (3 matches, 66% wins) is playing.
Nautilus (2 matches, 50% wins), Nami (2 matches, 50% wins) are on Support.
Karmine Corp form: What to expect from KC
Despite its great popularity in Europe, Karmine Corp is a newcomer to the LEC league. The French team has previously played on the local scene, competing against compatriots, and has also played at various TIR-2 events within the LEC ecosystem.
For 2023, the teami has a very strong record with appearances in 4 tournaments. For professional teams in League of Legends, this is significant, as most of them play exclusively in a single league.
Karmine Corp started with LFL Spring 2023 and started off horribly. At the local league the team played 7-11 in the group stage, which was not even enough to qualify for the play-offs.
Things improved significantly from there and Karmine Corp lifted the championship trophy over their heads twice in a row. The first time at LFL Summer 2023 and the second time at EMEA Masters Summer 2023. Incidentally, Masters Karmine Corp have won 4 times in the team's history and that is a significant statistic.
The last tournament of last season was the Coup De France 2024 championship. Either there was no priority for the event, or they were not in shape at all, but KC took the top 8 there.
- Karmine Corp line-up: Canna, Yike, Vladi, Caliste, Targamas.
Karmine Corp joined the LEC by purchasing a slot from Astralis. The Danish club, which did not achieve results last season, decided to sell its place in the prestigious league. Whether they did the right thing - we will find out later.
In the first match of LEC Winter 2024 Karmine Corp will play against Fnatic. In that match I believe in the victory of Karmine. After that - the game against G2 Esports and there Karmine Corp will be much more difficult. However, with Fnatic everything turned out to be the opposite: KC won, and with G2 Esports - everything is logical, an easy victory for the "samurai".
Karmine Corp officially became the worst team of LEC Winter 2024 ahead of time. Before Long Sogpeg of their last match in the regular season, KC have a stat line of 1-7, with their only win coming in week 3 against SK Gaming. The only treat was the prestige point that Karmine Corp got in their last group stage match.
At LEC Spring 2024, Karmine Corp repeated their "success" of the winter split. That is, they again took the last line, and with the identical result of 2 wins and 7 losses.
At the LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs, they made it to the LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs from 5th place with a score of 4-5. They debuted in the play-offs with a match against G2 Esports, where they lost 0-2. Karmine Corp rather unexpectedly ran over MAD Lions KOI in the first round of the lower bracket, shutting out the more titled opponent 2-0. Next, they won again and again over a more titled opponent in the form of SK Gaming. In the end, they managed to reach the top 4, but then the fuse was not enough and BDS knocked Karmine Corp out of the tournament.
The group stage of LEC Winter 2025 Karmine Corp did well. Canna and company shared the second line of the group stage table with G2 and KOI, coming away with a 6-3 win. In the first round of play-offs Karmine Corp confidently outplayed Team Vitality, and went on to beat KOI with a similar win. Against G2 it was a very different situation and resulted in a 1-3 defeat. KOI barely defeated Fnatic 3-2 in the bottom set, but in the grand finals something happened: Karmine Corp literally destroyed G2, beating the best team in Europe 3-0, leaving the "samurai" no chance.
At First Stand 2025, Karmine Corp did not play their best game. The LEC champions played 1-3, but thanks to coincidence and map difference, they qualified for the play-offs. In the grand final match they played a tough bo5 against CFO and came out stronger. In the grand finals LEC champions Karmine Corp lost to HLE with the score 1-3.
Karmine Corp won the group stage of LEC Spring 2025 finishing 8-1. In the first play-offs match, Ledge and KOI were very unexpected, losing the match with a score of 2-3. After being in the bottom set of the play-offs, Heretics won, and then rolled Fnatic, securing their place in the top 3. However, they failed to move further into the top 3, KOI prevented them from doing so. As a result, the champions of LEC Spring 2025 took the 3rd place.
At LEC Summer 2025 Karmine Corp played in basket A, where they finished second.
The most popular champions of Karmine Corp
The most popular and successful top line champion remains Gragas (3 matches, 100% wins) and also Kennen (3 matches, 66% wins).
Wukong (6 games, 33% wins) and Sejuani (4 matches, 100% wins) play in the forest.
The centre line is played with Ahri (4 matches, 0% wins), Tristana (3 matches, 100% wins) and Syndra (3 matches, 100% wins).
The ADC position is most often occupied by Lucian (4 matches. 50% wins), Aphelios (4 matches, 75% wins).
Nami (3 games, 66% wins), Thresh (3 matches, 100% wins) are often paired with shooters.
G2 Esports - Karmine Corp Head to Head
In the 2025 season, the head to head matchup is KC. They have beaten G2 Esports in 3 out of 4 matches played.
Predicted result of the match between KC - G2 at LEC Summer 2025 Playoffs
Despite the history of head-to-head meetings between KC and G2 in the 2025 season, I believe that the Samurai will not have much trouble against KC. Still, G2 Esports is too experienced in LEC and after losing in the finals of LEC Winter and LEC Spring they will do everything to get their way in Summer 2025.
Betting tip: G2 Esports win.
