We are finishing the review of the second round of the LEC Winter 2023 group stage with the Group B match. BDS and Astralis will have their own duel for life at the event.
The French club got here after taking 5th place in the regular season. In the first match of the group stage, BDS faced G2 Esport and lost 1-2.
Astralis made it to the LEC Winter 2023 – Stage 2 finishing last in the regular season. In the first match of the group stage, Astralis lost as expected.
We analyze which of the teams will continue to play at the LEC, and who will have to say goodbye to the prospect of making it to the playoffs.
We begin the analysis of the match with a review of the Team BDS game form. The French club in this match will perform in the status of a favorite.
The bookmakers believe in the victory of BDS. The chance of such an outcome is estimated by a coefficient in the region of 1.4.
BDS have the highest percentage of success when compared to all other teams participating in the LEC Winter 2023 - Stage 2. It's easy to agree with this.
In the new season, BDS focused on young and promising players. Although the result in the regular season is closer to “average”, given all of the above, we can say that for BDS this is a success.
Coming from academies and less titled clubs, BDS members play quite cheerfully against the background of more eminent and formidable rivals. There is no fear and doubt in their performance, and this is a big plus.
Team BDS have 4-2 statistics before the start of the new week of LEC Winter 2023. The team is tied for 2nd place in the race.
The first week of the winter LEC raised questions about the viability of the renewed Team BDS roster. The team finished it with a score of 1-2, losing to passable opponents:
- Lost by KOI 0-1
- 1-0 victory over SK Gaming
- Lost to EXCEL 1-0
Later, the situation was smoothed out. On the second week, BDS leveled off and closed all their matches with a victory, and against serious opponents:
- 1-0 victory over Fnatic
- 1-0 victory over Astralis
- Defeated MAD Lions 1-0
Such a streak can cause a feeling of euphoria in the team. To some extent, this happened, but the factor of the level of teams in the third week also plays here:
- Lost to G2 Esports with a score of 0-1
- Lost to Vitality with a score of 0-1
- 1-0 victory over Team Heretics
It was only partially possible to take revenge on G2 Esports for insults within the BDS regular season. The French managed to pick up 1 card in bo3, but they were not enough for more.
Team BDS Champions
Unpopular characters on the LEC appear in the top of the BDS. Olaf (50% wins), Darius (50% wins) and Aatrox (win) and Jax (win) were selected twice each.
Two appearances each for the junglers Sejuani (50% wins), Wukong (100% wins). 1 game each for Vi (0% wins), Maokai (100% wins).
In the mid lane, Azir (50% wins), Akali (50% wins) and Sylas (50% wins) have 2 spawns each. One more time NUCLEARINT played for Viktor (win).
The most picked shooter is Jhin (3 games, 66% win rate), followed by Caitlyn (50% win rate at 2 games) and Varus (1 match, 1 win).
Heimerdinger appeared most often on supports (3 matches, 66% of wins). Thresh, Lux and Tahm Kench appeared once each with a victory against Thresh and Tahm Kench.
Let's move on to the analysis of the game form of Astralis. They will act as an outsider in this confrontation.
Bookmakers do not really believe in the success of Astralis. The Danish club's chance of winning is estimated at around 2.4.
Perhaps BDS is the only team against which Astralis will have such indicators. In the case of the Danish club, this is a compliment.
Astralis are playing well this season. Good for ourselves.
Of the five Astralis, I would mention Finn and Dajor. This pair looks more stable than their counterparts and often they form the success of the team in matches, if any.
The Danish club started the first week badly. The team lost all their matches and did not have to wait for any kind of enlightenment in their game:
- Lost to Team Heretics 0-1
- Lost to MAD Lions 0-1
- Lost to G2 Esports 0-1
Having played against the big favorites, Astralis entered the second week. No less formidable rivals were waiting for them there, but the situation was partially corrected:
- Lost to Vitality 0-1
- Lost to BDS 0-1
- Victory over EXCEL with a score of 1-0
The win against EXCEL breathed life into Astralis and brought back hope for success in future games. They got it the next week when they finished the tour with a score of 2-1:
- 1-0 victory over BDS
- 1-0 victory over Fnatic
- Lost by KOI 0-1
Two victories allowed Astralis to advance to the group stage. Unfortunately for Astralis, they ended up in Group B.
Astralis played their first game against MAD Lions. It was expected that the “lions” would tear their prey to pieces, but Astralis turned out to be not a bastard of the shield, and gave battle: thanks to unique peaks, not least.
Astralis tops Jax (3 matches, 1 win), KSante (3 matches, 0 wins), Fiora (1 game, 0 wins), Aatrox (1 game, 0 wins). The appearance of Gnar and Gangplank in the picks (1 win in 1 game) became a success.
Of the junglers, Viego (3 games, 0% wins), Sejuani (2 matches, 50% wins), Jarvan IV (1 match, 0% wins) popped up most often. It is best to play for Trundl (2 matches, 2 wins).
Mid lane: Sylas (3 games, 2 wins), Ryze (2 matches, 50% wins), Syndra (2 appearances, 0 wins), Twisted Fate (1 match, 0% wins).
The bot had the largest number of experiments. These are Caytlin and Xayah and Ezrael, as well as Zeri and Lucian. Out of the pool, 2 matches were won by Lucian, 1 by Ezreal.
A similar situation with supports. There was enough variety here: Ashe (2 games, 0 wins), Bard, Lux, Yummi and Nami. The latter won two games in conjunction with Lucian. Meta Karma also won.
History of personal confrontations
The teams played each other in the regular season. BDS celebrated the victory in the b1 match.
The outcome of the fight
I'm expecting a hot fight in this match, but I'm leaning towards BDS to win. The French club looks cheerful and they will be able to beat the last team of the regular season in a full bo3.
Outcome: victory for BDS.
Now, the majority of bookmaker companies believe in Astralis victory. Odds on them are equal to 2.44. According to bookmakers data, Team BDS are the outsider and odds on their victory amounts 3.707.
