Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We're back in Seoul, where the LCK Summer 2024 regular season matches are in full swing. Clubs continue to determine the play-offs.
There are those who are very close to the play-offs and those who are lucky to get there. In this betting thread we are talking about such a match, specifically Gen.G vs Kwangdong Freecs.
Let's see if Freecs have any chance to win the match against Gen.G or if everything will end quickly and painlessly for the outsider.
Let's go.
Gen.G's form.
Let's open the match with an analysis of Gen.G's form. In this match they play as clear favourites with odds to win at around 1.1.
In the 2022 season Gen.G finished top 2 at LCK Spring 2022 and won at LCK Summer 2022, and then travelled to Worlds 2022, where they lost dramatically in the grand final match. However, this didn't do much to shake their position at the 2023 season's Long Segment.
In 2023, Gen.G won LCK Spring 2023, leaving no chance for T1 in the grand finals. A little less luck at MSI 2023, where Bilibili Gaming sensationally kept the Korean champions out of the finals.
- Gen.G line-up: Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, Peyz, Lehends.
At LCK Summer 2023, Gen.G made it to the play-offs without any problems. During the group stage, the titular Koreans gave up only 2 series, eventually finishing in 2nd place in the group stage table with a score of 16-2.
In their first play-offs match for themselves, Gen.G crushed HLE. HLE 3-0 and now Gen.G are ready to advance to the league finals for the second consecutive time.
The Grand Final is a rematch of the playoffs. Last round Gen.G beat T1 3-2 in a very tough series and I think the final will be the same.
And in the grand finals, they did it too. And it was even easier than in the match to get here: Gen.G became the LCK Summer Split champion by beating T1 3-1.
Worlds 2023 Gen.G started off with a solid win over Gam Esports. It was fast and painful for Gam with 22 minutes and only 5 kills for the Vietnamese.
In a 2-0 basket match, Gen.G played against their counterparts, and by extension, bitter rivals T1. The South Korean derby, like the last 4, ended in favour of Gen.G, as Chovy and his Akali left T1 with nothing to lose.
Gen.G advanced to the Worlds 2023 play-offs with a score of 3-0. In their final group stage match, they played against G2 Esports and, expectedly easily, ran over the Europeans 2-0.
Being one of the favourites for Worlds 2023, Gen.G couldn't handle the burden of responsibility and lost in the first round of play-offs, Ledgeiv BLG.
In the first match at LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G will be tested against T1. I'm sure the reigning LCK champions will be proud to pass it, as Gen.G are historically good at home against the Worlds 2023 champions. Following that, Gen.G will play Nongshim RedForce, where they should outplay their counterparts with unenviable ease.
After winning the LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G attended their first international tournament of the season, the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, where they were crowned champions.
In between regular season matches at LCK Summer 2024, Gen.G attended Esports World Cup 2024, where they lost in the first round and finished in the top 8.
Most Popular Gen.G Champions
The most popular champion on the top line is Gnar (10 games, 90% wins). Jayce appeared 8 times and the winrate was 87%. Kenen was played 4 times and won all matches, KSante 4 times and 3 wins, Renekton 4 times and 2 wins.
In the forest were Vi (11 matches, 72% wins), Sejuani (10 games, 80% wins), Wukong (7 matches, 85% wins), Le Sin (6 games, 83% wins).
On the centre line it was Azir (13 games, 69% wins), Gragas (6 matches, 100% wins), Kassadin (5 games, 100% wins), Viktor (4 matches, 75% wins).
The most popular ADC is Lucian (12 matches, 83% wins). Next are Varus (8 games, 87% wins), Caitlyn (5 games, 100% wins), Zeri (4 matches, 75% wins).
Nami (13 matches, 84% winrate). Ashe and Lux have 4 games and 4 wins each.
Freecs Form
We continue the match analysis with the analysis of Freecs form. Here they are playing as a number two with win odds around 9.
Freecs are one of the weakest teams in South Korea, although they are one of the oldest. They have been playing on the LCK since 2016, but they have not been able to achieve any performance.
The most successful year can be called 2018, when Freecs were twice in the top 3 at LCK (2nd place LCK Spring 2023, 3rd place at LCK Summer 2018) and made it to Worlds 2018. And there managed to reach the play-offs, but Ledgeili Cloud9, finishing in the top 8.
In the following years, they managed to reach the top 4 of LCK series tournaments four times. They finished Top-4 at the 2019 LCK Regional Finals, LCK Summer 2020, Top-3 at the 2020 LCK Regional Finals, and Top-4 at the 2022 LCK Spring.
In 2023, the Freecs failed in both LCK splits. First, they finished in the top 7 at LCK Spring without making it out of the group, and then they finished in the last, 10th, place at LCK Summer 2023.
- Freecs roster: DuDu, Cuzz, BuLLDoG, Leaper, Andil.
Freecs decided to strengthen Cuzz in the new season. The other four played for the club last season and the season before that.
Freecs will make their debut at LCK Spring 2024 with a match against T1. Obviously, they simply have no chance of winning there. Next up is HLE. Freecs have a busy calendar, nothing to say.
However, a difficult Long Corner did not prevent Freecs from reaching the LCK Spring 2024 play-offs. It was difficult, but they took 7 matches out of 18 played, took the top 6 and got to the main stage. However, we didn't manage to go further than the first round: as a result - LCK Spring 2024 TOP-6.
At LCK Summer 2024 Freecs show a surprisingly good League. Before the Long Sogpeg match with Gen.G they have a score of 4-2 and a third position in the standings.
Most popular Freecs champions
The most frequent guest is KSante (10 games, 8 wins). Gnar (6 matches, 50% wins), less frequently Sion (2 matches, 100% wins) and Renekton (2 matches, 50% wins) appear.
The ubiquitous Maokai is ignored in the forest (he appeared only once and lost). But Vi (6 games, 100% wins), Elise (6 games, 60% wins), Sejuani (4 games, 75% wins) get quite a lot of attention.
The centre line is occupied by Syndra (7 games, 85% wins), Ryze (4 games, 0% wins), Talliyah (3 games, 66% wins).
From shooters like Lucian (5 matches, 80% wins), Varus (4 games, 75% wins), Zeri, Sivir and Caitlyn appeared 3 times each and only Sivir didn't win a single game.
Sapports: Nami (7 matches, 85% wins), Ashe (4 matches, 50% wins), Yummi (3 matches, 33% wins).
History of head-to-head meetings Freecs - Gen.G
Previously the teams played each other twice in 2024 and both times Freecs Ledgeali 0-2.
Predicted result of the match Gen.G - Freecs at LCK Summer 2024
In this match I am definitely in favour of Gen.G. Despite a pretty good game from Freecs this season, they are still not Gen.G's equal.
Bottom line: Gen.G wins with a score of 2-0.
