Changes are coming in the European LEC franchise league. The FC Schalke 04 Esports club management announced that from next season the organization will not play in the elite European league.

Starting in 2022, the place of FC Schalke 04 Esports in the LEC will be taken by the Swiss club Team BDS. Schalke will sell their league license for € 26.5 million.

The reason for this decision was the COVID-19 pandemic and the financial difficulties of the football club of the same name, which owns a division of the League of Legends. In recent months, the organization's management has been trying to find a solution to this situation, but they have failed.
