At the start of The Bali Major 2023 tournament, one of the players from the Evil Geniuses team fell seriously ill
Support player Farith "Matthew" Puente from Evil Geniuses has been suffering from stomach pain for the past three days at The Bali Major 2023 Dota 2 tournament. This was revealed by creative manager Paulina "Jáni" Paz from Gaimin Gladiators.
According to Paz, due to the illness, the player couldn't perform well on the first day of the tournament. He sought medical help and started a treatment course. Paz criticized South American fans for their "harsh judgments" about the team's performance, considering they are not aware of the details.

Paz highlighted that Matthew's illness has affected the overall mood of the team since the players are unable to practice together. However, she is unsure if Evil Geniuses will be forced to make a substitution in their roster.
