Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 (DAC)
Match schedule
About organizer:
The organizers of the tournament will be the Chinese company Perfect World, which has a poor reputation because of their failed Shanghai Major 2016. The tournament had considerable delays, bad meal service, absence of waiting rooms and at the end the unknown stole esportsmen’s devices. But now we shouldn’t get disappointed as now they have help from the company PGL, which managed to hold such tournaments as The Manila Major 2016, The Boston Major 2016, The Kiev Major 2017, PGL Open Bucharest, The Bucharest Major, and some CS:GO competitions in a great way..
Holding format:
Sixteen collectives will take part in the competition, but only six of them were honoured with direct invitations. All the participants will be divided into two groups, where they will play by Round-robin with matches up to one win. According to the results of the group stage, two rosters will leave each group and the rest will get to the playoff. At the moment there is no information about the format of the playoff stage.
Prize pool:
The event got the status “Major”, so the prize pool will be about $1,000,000 and 1500 DPC Points, which will be necessary to get to The International 2018. The division of the prize pool is unknown yet.
Holding place:
The holding place is going to be The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, which can hold gymnastics, basketball, ice hockey and short track competitions, but it got well-known thanks to holding water sport championships. The place can accommodate approximately 5,000 people. We should mark that it is not the first eSports tournament which take place in the arena. In May The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center held the event 2016 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2016.
