The Ukrainian side B8 played a tense three-map series against The MongolZ at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 but ultimately fell short 1–2. After losing their own pick Ancient, confidently responding on Mirage, and taking Nuke to overtime in a dramatic decider, it was the Mongolian squad who proved stronger in the crucial moments of the match.

Ancient (13:9 The MongolZ)

The first map, Ancient, was B8’s pick, but the Ukrainian team failed to capitalize on their advantage. The MongolZ looked more composed in key situations, converted crucial rounds more efficiently, and closed the map 13:9.

Mirage (13:7 B8)

On Mirage, the situation changed completely. B8 dominated the first half, showcasing a confident CT side and finishing it with a commanding 11:1 lead. After the side switch, The MongolZ attempted a comeback and secured several rounds, but the Ukrainian squad maintained control, picked up the two rounds they needed, and closed the map 13:7.

Nuke (19:17 The MongolZ)

The deciding map, Nuke, was a tight battle for both teams. In the first half, The MongolZ secured key rounds and led 7:5. After the switch, B8 managed to slow down their opponents’ momentum, but the Mongolian side still reached match point. Thanks to esenthial, B8 won three crucial rounds to force overtime, where they eventually fell 17:19.

Following this hard-fought loss, B8 drop to the 1–2 bracket, where they no longer have room for error. The MongolZ move forward to the 2–1 pool. PGL Cluj-Napoca runs from February 14 to 22, featuring 16 teams competing for $225,000 for first place, with a total prize pool of $1,250,000.
